i do laugh if the joke is really funny but if it's not and it's being told by someone, i just smile to be polite. i hope that is not rude or anything.

Right I would smile too! But sometimes when I see that person's face, the hope to see me laugh, I still feel guilty about not laughing!

Hello wondericequeen,
No, I won't laugh if it isn't funny. I just pretend to be blurred so that no one will feel 'hurt' for telling a joke which is not funny at all *laughs* I always end up saying something like "What? What? What? I didn't get it!" Do you think you have the heart to scold me for being so blurred about your joke? *laughs*

That's a good way to avoid the embarrassing situation too!

Haha! I do that sometimes too. But really, even if I don't laugh, I smile because at least they tried. :D

It depends for me... if the joke was made by my boss... i will try to laugh a little... if it was made by a close friend... then i will say outright that it is a corny joke and give a quite sarcastic laugh... and if it was made by a person whom i do not want to offend and would rather be polite... then i will try to give a genuine laugh...

That's one very cool way to deal with a not funny joke!

sometimes,maybe...i mean in some situation,we must laugh..
for example, our boss told us a jokes which makes him laugh..but if we don't,i guess we were in trouble..my boss may not make a good expression on us....
but when we hang out with our friends,we do not feel uncomfortable...we laugh whenever we like...
it seems that we all have double personality at this point...

Yea our boss! If she tells me any jokes, I guess I really have to force a laugh even if it's not funny!

I must admit, i always feel the need to let out a small, forced chuckle after a bad joke. I'd feel awful i didnt! Once iv let somebody start to tell me a joke, im then duty bound to laugh whether i think its funny or not... and often, its not! :D hahaa! lol
Cant say that im very believable, but at least i try to abide by 'joke etiquette' LOL :)#

Well I am an honest person. If something isn't funny I don't give it commission. I am not going to waste a laugh on something that is not funny. Don't expect a laugh if you know it isn't funny. But someone might laugh. Different strokes from different folks, ya know?

I give a smirk because usually the person telling the joke is a clown and thinks he or she is funny when they really aren't. I give a smirk because they act like idiots lol (if you lived in my household, you'd understand completely hehe).

Oh no, I cannot laugh at a joke if it is not funny. My hubby is always getting sent jokes from his work mates and they are awful, they are not even jokes half the time, they are just derogatory to women or they are offensive jokes about other peoples misfortunes and I just do not find them in the slightest bit amusing. My hubby does not bother telling them to me now as he knows I do not like them. If I have to listen to a joke then I want to find it really funny!!

I am a shallow person when it comes to jokes so I laugh easily. But I think, rather than the joke itself, the effort is what matters. Besides, I know of people who can't deliver jokes properly but the way they say it, their expressions and their puppy eyes that beg for a laugh make me really laugh. :D

yes i do still laugh even if they are not funny but there are times when i laugh very sarcastically then it is funnier that way. there are also times that if the joke isn't funny then I don't laugh at all.

I usually try to laugh a little even if the joke is not funny, just to be polite. I don't go overboard with it, but I just try to give just a small chuckle or a polite smile or something. It also makes it less awkward, lol. I think it would be really awkward if someone made a joke and I just stood there and looked at them and didn't laugh at all while they're laughing, lol.

I dont like laughing just to be polite. Because I would feel like a hypocrite. If its funny I laugh, if not then its just too bad..
