Friendship begins with you; you must know and love yourself in order to love others. To give up on the act of friendship is giving up on yourself. To have a friend for a short while is better than never having a friend at all. Friends enrich our lives. Sometimes we gain friends and sometimes we lose them; mostly we only have a very few that remain constant in our lives. No matter which kind of friend, they teach us and help us grow as individuals;they teach us to be better friends ourselves. Giving up is not a good option; those who have no friends usually grow old and bitter from the loneliness--you'll be hurt in the long run. Do yourself a favor and leave your options open; good friends come along usually when least expected and generally when we need them most. Chin up and keep on loving yourself and your friends.
