Our Parents

For the most part, parents do know best. They've walked the mile, they've tried and tested and failed. They have unspoken wisdom about where we are right now. BUT, sometimes a parent will give advice based purely on their own experience and personality. Everyone is diferent, and even though our parents have gone through childhood, into adulthood, and through parenthood; their experiences were different than ours, their philosophies may differ from ours, and their personalities are their own. When my parents give me advice, I take it as that, advice, not a commandment that must follow. I learn best through my own experiences, trial and error, so I don't always follow the guidance. Sometimes I'm grateful I did, sometimes I wish I would have listened.

My Father and Mother could never never make mistakes, what they said to me, even as they lie in their graves today is what has entered in my head as the truth and nothing but the truth-they were never judgemental, they would never stop us when we became of age from doing anything we pleased, but oh yes, they always told us the best side of life from which to choose-we were guided, but the decision was really ours always! Their guidance during our formative years made us into what we now are-I will always say, they will for ever be right on life issues!
