Assuming you are looking to sell your creations, how far in advance should you start making your stuff for a particular holiday? When should you start selling it?
Obviously, this depends on the time involved in making things. But, just give me an estimate of when you do things to get your holiday sales.

I only do a few shows in the spring/summer, but many in the winter. I typically make things all year long and that way I have a good supply of stuff for the winter. It really depends on the amount of time I have. Right now, my stock of stuff is competely bare. We just moved though, and I haven't had the time to do anything yet. I wanted to book a few shows for the spring/summer, but without any stock, I can't :(

Since I am a knitter, I sell most of my crafts in the winter time, so I spend most of the rest of the year making items and getting ready for the holiday craft season. Even then it seems no matter what I make there are always people who wish I had made more of an item. It's hard to predict what will be a big seller each year.
I also sell online year-round so that means I have to keep at least some items around. I ysyally don't do seasonal things (like halloween or xmas items) for me they don't seem to sell fast enough.

I work on things when I get a whim.....and lately I've been wanting to do a Christmas wreath. ARe you going to do a craft sale? I usually work on most of my things during the winter so I have enough inventory to last through the later part of November which is uasually the end of my craft sales. So if you feel like doing something for fall or christmas go for it!
