Can you buy a domain name permanently??

The answer is NO. The Governing body of Domain name is ICANN. And it has set up some rules regarding Domain name registration. And as per that a domain name should not be sold, instead the domain name can be owned for a maximum of 10 years and later on it has to be renewed in order to own it. I don't think that's possible.. The system doesn't work that way.. But you could buy for many years ahead, like 100 years, so isn't that long enough? I mean noone's not going to live over 200 years right? But why would anyone want a domain name forever even when there not alive. Unless you're a company, that is..
