Hello All,
I would like to know; do you skip the discussion tags in mylot after posting a new discussion or after answering a particular discussion or do you just "skip" it?
Are there any differences at all to it? What's your take on the tags? Based from what I know, it is easier for the tags to organize the topics or something, right? But can I find any forms of discussions just by clicking the tags? Do you find tags convenient or plain troublesome for you??
Thanks in advance for your responses, will certainly rate a + for all entries..Take care and have a great day ahead of you. (I'm going to my work site now, be back in another few hours)
Hugs All,Zed;)

When I was just new here at myLot, I would tag all discussions I have started as well as when I respond to the discussion of others. This was because I was told by a friend that it was important to do so. Later on, I would only tag discussions I have started or responses that I give when I can easily think of key terms that would suit my post. Recently though, I rarely skip the discussion tags.

Zed, the tag system is not perfect, but it is better than nothing and if we all try to use it then the discussions that are relevant to one another are easier to group and locate. Responsible tagging helps to cut down on the redudancy of discussion topics....less boring. Thanks for the + btw for I have been hovering on the edge of almost getting my blue star back for way too long. Red is pretty, but blue is better and I am so tired of this 89!

Hello drannhh, I really hope that you would get your blue star back, because it really matches your avatar and I love seeing your blue rating. I also lost a cent an hour ago, and I'm guessing someone's discussions got deleted or something.
Anyway, I think you have explained it really well; the tagging helps to sort out the really good discussions or something that are of "value". But I just sometimes do not have ideas of which words to tag that I tend to spend longer typing out the tags which could make me kind of wasting time, :( ..Let's go for the blue star, shall we and try harder. Kudos to hard work, ;)...have a great day there..

I'm actually a bit back and forth on tagging. When I first started responding to discussions, I didn't do tags. I guess that was partially because I didn't understand what they were. Then for some reason, I started submitting tags on most of the discussions I'd respond to. I still tag pretty much all the discussions I respond to, with one exception. If a discussion already has a bunch of tags, I'll skip it. I figure why take the time to add anything else if it's already got three or four.
Hope you have a great day! *hugs*

I used to tag every discussion but here lately, I only tag the ones that I am interested in looking up again sometime. I usually just skip it or go to the next discussion if it is not something I need to return to. I always rate discussions too even if I do not reply to some of them. I rate everyone who responds to me also. Tags can be a pain but they can also be helpful at times.

Hi steph, I agree that it gets really tired to put in the tags each time. I am hurrying to go to another discussion that sometimes I get quite irritated by the tags. But I'm sure it's there for good reasons like you have said. Same here, I rate everyone else's discussions and especially the ones that answered mine and the one that I respond to. But those negative ones, I just leave it alone. I'm more into the + ones though, LOL.
Thanks for posting and have a great day ahead of you. ;) Don't forget to tag this, -winks-

Sometimes I do.If I answer a discussion that has quite a few responses. It can be difficult to come up with something fresh. Otherwise, I always try to. I think it's a good idea.

Hello tops, I truly agree with you. The organizing makes it easier to look for certain topic searches. There's quite this usefulness for tags which I love whenever I want to find something on a particular topic; the tags really come in handy.
Have a nice day; ;)

If I start a discussion I will tag it, but as for responding to a discussion, I normally don't tag them. I think tags are good though because you can find discussions using them.

Tags will be used by mylot to organize the topics so that if you use the search engines, you can easily find if it's in mylot.com. I don't skip that thing when I respond or post discussions!
Anyway, if you want to earn in free program, a mylot friend started his own site and it's free to join and earn money. It's called "ETWAC" and it's in my profile website!

Tagging a discussion helps us know how many similar discussions are present and by reading them some new ideas are gained as well. I usually tag a discussion which helps me think of new words related to it but am lazy tagging the responses that I give.

Hi there vsraovsr, thank you so much responding to my discussion. I am lazy too at times and during most times, I just want to skip the tagging part, but then my habit kicks in and I just slot in a word or two and then enter it to the system, LOLz..

I do tag sometimes, but not always.
I find it to be waste of time.

Awesome question...Have been wondering the same thing myself. It does seem a bit bothersome, and time consuming. Especially if you have a thought in your head about a discussion you just thought of and you want to enter it before you lose your train of thought! Still, I usually do enter a few tags for each comment.

I tag my own discussion but, I tend to skip tagging the discussions I am responding to. I used to add tags to some of the discussions I was responding to until it kept asking me to add more tags. That got old so, I stopped! LOL! If it is an important and helpful tag, I might but, usually, I just don't care!

Normally I skip it as my laptop takes a while to load mylot anyway without doing more work on it to make it run harder so its easier for me not to plus im often posting while playing with my children so if im busy with them and need to leave I will just skip it as it is quicker

Hello there kezabelle, thanks for responding to my discussion. Oh yes, the PC factor is definitely another one to consider when filling out the tags. Even on my broadband connection at work or at home, it is sometimes slow to load on the next step after filling out the tags. So in your case, it's best to skip it.
Have a good day with your children and take care. ;)

I almost always add tags to my responses. But
there are a few cases where I had to skip them
because there seemed to be no approprite tags
for the discussion that hasn't been put already.
Tags are supposed to be used to organized the
discussions but I noticed that some people add
tags that are not actually in the interest
categories.
Example, someone put the tag "sunshine" but it
does not exist in any interest category.

Hello dear! a good day to you
I too have been wondering at first, i tried asking some of my friends here and they said that it's important. Though you're right about time consuming thing, but i guess it's still important. Honestly i sometimes skip tagging but most of the time i do, at least one tag is enough for every discussion we respond to. Besides, mylot people have reasons for this for our convenience right?
A good question here my friend, tc and God bless!

Hello there sweetie, thanks for responding to my discussion. I think that you have highlighted a very important point about time factor, LOL. It is really time consuming to fill all those tags. But then, it has become a habit of mine. I have learned from most great friends here that there's certain usefulness and hassle to it. So, I think the best is up to the individual to fill it up or not.
Take care and happy posting to you. ;)

I don't skip it. I always put something in it Zed.
I am not pretty sure if it is important but I will just tag the discussion as I feel would summarize or in a word would describe the discussion.
I don't find it any troublesome at all. In fact, I would regard it as something useful. I will try tags to find other discussions related to it and it's fun. It makes a lot of work to do here at mylot.
Have a wonderful day too! Cheers!

Yes, yes, LOL I find it like a natural thing to do now; filling out all the tags. I used to get irritated but after sometime, it is like a part of mylot process already that I'm getting used to by the day.
And it is weirdly fun. Thanks for posting, sweetie and have a great day ahead of you. ;)

I'm a compulsive tagger. I guess tagging makes me feel like I'm helping to organize the discussions into categories and making it easier for people to find the information they're looking for. I think I take it too far, though...I almost always tag whenever I write a post. It's almost as if I feel like I'm letting someone down or being a bad myLot user if I hit the skip button, which IS there for a reason. Thanks for posting this topic, Zed...I didn't even realize I *had* a problem until I read it. Now I'm off to join Taggers Anonymous so I can start getting the help I so desperately need!

hi zed_k4,
yes i ALWAYS do the tag part coz i feel it will help not only me but as well the the others specially the new ones here in mylot to find what they are looking for.
for some they dont do the searching and just know what they want and need BUT others do find the search bar being helpful and so i am hoping by doing my part will help someone to make life easier.
i feel that mylot did place such thing for a purpose so the least i can do is help the others by placing a tag to my discussion and response as well.
takecare!

Hello there, jairgirl, I think that you are a very good and considerate mylot user. It is simply very "honorable" to be doing that. I didn't think of it that way. You have certainly highlighted a very important factor there and what the tags are indeed for. Thanks a lot and have a nice day posting ;)
