I think I trained my cockatiel to well. My father in law got her for me when she was very young. I had to gain her trust and it took time but eventually she came around. If she is out of her cage and you call her name she will fly to where you are at. She wants to be by us constantly which would be great if she was toilet trained. LOL When we come home, she chirps like she is a dog. She won't stop until you let her out or put a blanket over her. My husband wants to get her a mate but Im afraid it will make her mean. Any ideas on how we could handle this situation?

My son and his family had two cockatiels... one at a time. Both of them were in the habit of sitting on their head and hands, as if wanting to be close to them. They're amazing birds.
I don't know that having a mate would make her mean, but you would need a nesting box and so on. My brother-in-law has an aviery in his garden with several cockatiels and several budgies and canaries in it. They all get on fine with each other and are very friendly with him when he goes into the aviery, so you should be ok.
Brightest Blessings.
