When you work online

When you work online whether it's here at mylot, doing PTCs, or any other form of online work; do you set certain hours for working as if you were at an office? I have thought about setting up a schedule to do my online money making so that it's more like a job as well as having fun. Do you set certain hours or do you just get online when ever you have free time?

I'm doing mylot 2 to 3 hours every morning, I spend this hours mostly in reading posts of different interests, I also make responses to the topics that strikes me and post my own discussion by sharing things that gives me inspiration. It's good that you are planning of having a schedule for your online money making, I think it will help you to be more focus on it.

I think it might help me too. That is if I can stick to it.

I just get online when I can, although it does tend to be the same time each day! I do not set time but keep it going while my inbox is open, and may be doing genealogy at the same time!

I think our other duties have more of a schedule, so that creates a "schedule" of sorts for myLot.

That's good to be able to multi-task.

When I first started on mylot I would do it only during my free time...then I started doing it all the time (even when I didn't have the time). I think that sometimes it's best to set yourself a goal, whether it be a certain amount of time to spend posting or a certain number of posts to do for the day. I'm really going to try my best to limit the amount of time that I spend here to a fixed amount so I don't get to wrapped up in it.

I used to do that when I first started. I am also an artist and I would set aside a specific time and amount of time to do my work. But, now I just do it when I feel like it or when I have the time. However, I find myself doing the same things online at about the same time of the day, so I guess I have regular hours here. I can see if someone (not you specifically)tends to get distracted easily having to set a schedule, otherwise they would never get down to work.

I don't know if a schedule will help me or not but I thought if I could try it out, it won't hurt.

Having to share a computer can be difficult as you don't get the time you would like to have online.

I think it's easier to set a schedule for ourselves when the kids are at school.

I usually do Mylot in my spare time. I work alot plus keeping up with the daily chores and family and friends. I just never feel I could committ to a set schedule for the my get paid sites. Most are just for fun , really the getting paid part is just a nice perk.

I agree that getting paid is a perk. Having a busy schedule does make it difficult to get online at a scheduled time.

I just do them when ever I have the free time. I even do them when I'm not supposed to (like right now at work). I guess setting up a schedule would be the best thing to do. That way everything is in order and you can focus on things you should be focusing on and one matter won't interfere with another. But I find it very hard to set up a schedule, being such an unorganized person that I am. Doing it when ever I feel has worked out for me so far as long as I still complete my responsibilities when I have to.

For some it works better if they don't have a set schedule. I thought about setting up a schedule to see if I got more done that way or if it would just be a bother (the schedule, I mean)

if you are going to treat it as an income then you should set hours to work on the sites but if you are doing it for fun then it is hard to set a certain hour to do it. Its hard to have fun if you a time limit on how long you can enjoy your time.

You are right about that. I just thought that if I set a schedule I wouldn't feel like most of my time is spent online or that I don't get enough done whether online or off.

I have not been setting certain hours, only because I cannot always predict when I can get on here, but I have been thinking about ways to manage my time more effectively as I am finding that I am not getting everything done that I want to do, on here and in other areas. But I would love to be able to set myself certain hours in a day that I can do and stick too.

No, I really don't set a time limit for my online work. I consider it pretty fun actually, so it's not a big deal for me on how much time I actually spend doing it. I'm here at MyLot from sometimes 2-8 hours straight. I like it here though, so it doesn't bother me. I do not get much time to do my online offer sites though, like I would like to, because I spend most of my time here on MyLot. I should probably adjust myself a little bit, to be working on those more often, because I could be earning far more from those rather than MyLot, but MyLot is just SOOOO addictive!

I have a 2 and a half year old daughter that is why i always set a schedule for almost everything i do otherwise i wouldnt be able to accomplish everything. My daughter wakes up at 8 and i will have to use my laptop in the kitchen while we have breakfast in order for me to accomplish my online moderating job from 7-10. I would have to log off staight away so i can concentrate more on my house chores and "mommy" responsibilities , otherwise i might be tempted to sit down and write here on mylot. The next time i can really sit down and work again infront of my computer would be 9pm, once she is already sleeping. I guess you can accomplish more when you have a schedule to follow, in this case you can still plan other stuff than being "married to you computer" all day .

Yes, I do a lot of sites, and I sell books on line, so I kind of have a time that I do each. I do the book business stuff between 8 and 11 AM everyday. Between 11 and 12 AM I will spend a little time with my son, and a little housework. At noon we eat lunch. Then I usually write a product review for Epinions, View Points, or Best-Price.com or an article for AC or Helium, and now I just joined ehow.com. Then I will work out for about a half hour, then help my two older kids with their homework if they need me too. Then If I have some time left over I will come on here, before fixing dinner. Or I will try to sneak a bit Mylot in after everyone else goes to bed. I grocery shop and do other errands on Wednesday mornings, so Wednesdays are usully low computer days, as most Wednesdays I don't get home till about 2:30.

I just comeonline when i have the time, but this happens to be generally at night, except at the weekends. I wouldnt like to make too much of a set routine coming onto MyLot., becuase id hate to make it FEEL like a job. Right now, i really enjoy the social side of mylot, as well as all the broad-ranging interesting discussions, so id hate to spoil that by setting myself set hours to come on.. it wouldnt feel so enjoyable for me that way. xxx

hi. i'm new in doing this line of work and although i only have a few, i try to set hours for each site. in the long run, this helps me be more organized. also, i tend to prioritize sites that i have a genuine interest in like mylot. it makes work seem not work at all. not only do i earn but i also have a chance to interact with great people such as yourself. cheers!!!
