How do you think this is going ot affect the taste of their chicken? When Wendy's switched their oil, it did make the food tatse different. Many people like fried chicken because it is greasy. With the zero transfat oil, the chicken will not be greasy and be much healthier.

Having been a cook b 4, I think the chicken will actually taste fresher. What most people don't realize is that when you have a heaveir oil the taste is thick and any left overs r not as good.

I think this is just one step for KFC. There are other things they could do as well - using organic chicken or actually cleaning the fat off of their chicken.

Maybe, but some changes they have made in the fast food world have affected the taste. McDonalds removed the beef flavoring to their fries and changed the meat they used in their burgers and they taste different. Wendy's fries taste a bit different than they use to as well.

I just had to add that, the report on our local news really got a laugh out of eneryone who saw it. The intro or "headline" was "After X-years, KFC is finally changing their oil." Being the sick humourists we are, we were like "wow...it's been THAT LONG? Holy crap, no wonder so many people get sick..." :) It's all in how you word things.

KFC has been around almost as long has the drive thru burger joints. Another interesting fact is that Wendy's is the only other fast food chain to have switched their oil. In 2003 McDonlads said they were going to, but never followed through.

What other fried chicken places are there where you live? I personally don't like FFC because about 8 or so years ago I ate there and the chicken was very fatty and unseasoned.

They're going to use the real deal. Real unprocessed soy, peanut, or corn oil. MUCH better for you. The bad transfat they've been using is from partially hydrogenated oil, which the body doesn't know how to break down, and so stores it as fat. They did this so it could be stored for longer periods of time on the shelf. And it's in SO MANY products we buy today. I'm all for getting rid of it. Honestly, you can't taste the difference.

I know that they do need to change their oil, but if people had self control and ate fatty foods in moderation and the food was cooked at the correct temperature, KFC probably would not even be worried about changing their oil.
