Which do you think is a more annoying situation? Lying to your ex so you don't have to see him/her or hanging out with your ex even if you don't want to?

i'm sorry but i would do neither. if you dont want to see them, dont, you shouldn't have to lie either, they are your ex, you dont or shouldn't have to answer to them anymore. i would tell them to move on with their own life. unless you are still friends, but if that is the case you still shouldn't have to lie to them about not seeing them. i have never personally been in a situation where i had to pretend or lie to an ex or anybody for that matter. maybe you dont want to hurt anyone's feelings? if this is the case, there is no easy way, someone may still have feelings & will get hurt eventually anyway. everytime i have broke up with someone, i have made a clean break & not seen them again, i have some friends who broke up but remained friends afterwards, one of them still had feelings for the other & eventually it all came to a head, now they dont see each other at all

oh well... but i don't really want to give up the friendship so I don't want to hurt her feelings. Is there a way to do that without lying or giving excuses why you can't be with her?

The only way i can see for your friendship to work, is if you are honest with her. Sit her down, talk to her, tell her how you feel, tell her that her friendship means something to you & you dont want to lose that friendship, but that you need some space as well. To be quite honest with you, it sounds as if she may still have feelings towards you, if that is the case, i do not see a good ending to this. But you have to be honest with her, or else you will end up disliking her for forcing you to see her all the time. I hope you get things sorted out xxx
