Low Carb

I started low carb dieting two weeks ago (on April Fools day no less!) and it's been going good. I have a LOT to lose though and figure it will take me two years sustained effort to get to goal. But every pound off makes me feel better, and I'm taking the "baby steps" approach.
I have lost nearly 6 pounds so far, and have noticed a few pluses such as it's easier to walk up the steps into my house, easier to turn over in bed at night, etc.
Anyone else doing Atkins, or any variation thereof? I am sort of on Atkins, just going from memory. I did it years ago (1998) before it got fashionable, and did well ... went from 240 down to 188, but hit a plateau and got bored, tried something else, and ended up putting it all back on. Then I left a full time job and started spending most of my day in front of this computer, and so now I'm over 300lb! (I hate saying so but I don't see any point in being less than frank.)
Look forward to hearing responses. I'm enjoying living on (basically) meat and vegetables!

Congrats on the weight loss. I have heard good things about low carb diets. My Mom has friends that did very well on it. They kept the weight off, even once they started adding the veggies and whatnot back in (like Atkins recommends).

I do better when I weigh every day. With Atkin's if you cheat, you do get the results pretty quickly, so weighing more often helps me stay with it. I *know* what happens when I leave the bread on, or eat a donut at work, because I'll see it the next day.

I'm on Atkins, too, and very happy with it. The one thing to remember is that you MUST eat your vegetables! People who say you eat just meat and cheese do not understand this diet, or the way your body works.
I'll point out that in the book it has a 1 cup list, and a 2 cup list, and also, you are supposed to be getting around 20g of carbs a day, most of which comes from these vegetables. If you worry that you are eating too many vegetables, just do the math. How much lettuce =20g of carbs? Something like 70 cups! You aren't likely to get too much of the vegetables, just make sure you stick to the list!
In any case, as a fellow Atkin's practitioner, I'd love to see an update!
