When you own a Palm Treo you are told by the service provider Sprint, Verizon, Nextel ...etc you have to have a data plan because the phones will connect to the network and constantly upload so to keep from paying high megabyte or kilobyte charges you have to carry a data plan. Which is partly true because the phone will log onto the network 24/7 to update, but there is a way to disable the phone so it won't log on to the network so you don't really have to keep a data plan on it.
