Now I have been married for several years, so this doesn't apply to me. But I have noticed a few things. Sites like E-harmony and Matchmaker.com along with a few others now have commercials on tv. Even some celebs are getting into the act, like Dr. Phil. SO is it becoming big business in it for th $$ or do these sites really work? Anyone have an opinion?

I have one, meet people the old fashioned way, in person!!! I am sorry but I would never try to date someone off of a dating service. There is something that smells of desperation to me in those places. Also, I feel you never know who you are meeting for real. In person you can gage reactions, inflections in voice, and see if a person is lying, on the computer all you are doing is reading type. You don't even know if the picture they put up is really them.
And what is the deal with match.com anyway. If I didn't meet anyone in the first six months, I'd want my money back, not another six months of the same crap!!!

I have not made a deep study of it, and I don't use any online dating site myself. But I sort of understand that online dating is the need of the times. I mean, people are so busy cooped up in their offices that they just don't have the time for traditional dating. So doing it through the Internet is easier.
Moreover, just look at the number of online dating websites. They have mushroomed recently. This rapid growth wouldn't have been possible unless there was a demand for it, right?
I can think of yet another reason why online dating has become big business. People are not that successful about relationships any more. Not that they were in the past. But thanks to the submissive position of women, relationships somehow stuck. Now, they don't any more and this has led to a lot of unhappiness, loneliness, and insecurity. No wonder people seek their Prince Charmings and Lady Love's online.
Personally, I feel if you are not successful offline, you can't be successful online either. But there are scores of people who have met their soul mates online.
Cheers and happy Mylotting. :)

Dear friend,
I hope there is someone somewhere in this world waiting for you. The urge to love and get loved that too find the perfect person. In search of perfection. So on goes for online dating for those who need it. But it also varies according the people interest and their ways for searching their partner or love. I hope online dating is another field for finding a good partner. As there is another ways it is also may considered a part of technological advancement. May who know tomorrow online marriage too will be done without meeting each other. May be hope for the best.

I have been married for years also so it does not apply to me either. I know of a few people who have met their significant other online with these websites. I don't think I would ever use them though because the internet is so dangerous.
