I'm looking for a free screen shot program and see that Firefox has an extension called FireShot. Has anyone used it? Do you like it? Are there any disadvantages to using it?

Hi ldyjarhead, you got me interested with this FireShot. So I visited the site and it fantastic. Its built in image editor and save feature is marvelous, I wont be needing the paint program anymore. I'll add this definitely to my firefox. Thanks and I if find anything wrong with this, I'll let you know.

Great! I've only used it a handful of times, but so far it's doing everything I needed to do. Hope it continues to work for you.

First impression I got when i looked at FireShot´s website was: "Why? Printscreen works as good as this". But I installed it and it is quite good. You are able to take a screenshot of the entire page instead of just the part of the site that is shown. Great extension!

Thanks! I'm 'old school' where 'print screen' means to actually print out a copy of what is on the screen. I don't want to print,I want to save as a picture that I can edit to delete personal information, etc. I trust Firefox so I guess I'll download it.

You do know if you press Print Screen and select "Paste" in Paint, you get the screenshot in there?

Yes, in reality I know it, but like I said, I'm 'old school' and I don't think of it that way. I don't use paint anyway. I just d/l FireShot and tried it out and it works great!

FireFox has a new beta version out and there are three different add ons for screenshots. Personally, I like the print screen option but if you are used to something as you said .. its best not to rock the boat You can hit the FireFox or Mozilla page and see if the beta version is something that you might want to download and check out for the add ons and extensions.

My original discussion said that I was looking at the one that Firefox has called Fireshot, and I was wondering if anyone else had used it. I have already downloaded it and been using it, and it suits my needs just fine.

Screen shot program? I thought you could just take screen shots using your print screen button. I didn't know you could actually download a screen shot program! I personally would be interested in this, as my print screen button will just not work. Also, my paint program won't either. I had to download a free paint program (TheGimp.org), in order to edit my information off of checks.

Well I downloaded this one and it works pretty good. It's from Firefox, and I trust them. I don't have the direct link, but if you do a search for 'FireShot'. I don't use paint, that's why I wanted something else.

I don't use FireFox, lol. I use either AOL Explorer, or Internet Explorer. I guess I could either find one that is compatible for either of those, or just download firefox so that I can do screenshots, lol. Thanks for posting about this though, it opens up more options for me. At the moment I'm usually trying to pry someone away from one of the other computers to do a screen shot because mine is horrible.

I haven't used that one, but I downloaded one that's compatible with Linux (which I use with my Firefox) and I can't get it to work. It is called Screengrab! If anyone has used it and can get it to paste the screen images into another document, I'd like to know. I have found it to be quite useful, especially when trying to prove an online transaction!!
