I love to write, but I cannot seem to find a writing job. I want to do freelance as I don't think I can make it in an office.

Hi Venturellak, first let me congratulate you for reaching a milestone in your life. If you want to be a freelance writer I suggest you start out first with online writers' guild. There are actually sites that can pay you for your articles if they are good enough and many people get to read it. Try Helium and Associated Content. I heard many people got paid with these sites.

Thank you. I have submitted 2 articles on helium, but I have not tried the other one. I'll check it out!

No offense, but if you want to make a living writing on the net, two articles isn't going to get you very far. I make about $50 a month on Helium for over 500 articles (plus what I have made in the market place, with contests, and with their reward-athon.) Associated Content pays upfront for some articles, but not all and their performance pay is on the low side. If this is something you really want to do and you are able to build up to it, check out my profile where you will find 12 great sites to write for.

Hello Aidenofthetower, thank you for giving more details on those two sites. 500 articles, wow! That's a lot. What do you write about generally? I would love to check your articles. I've got an account on Helium but have never submitted an article.

I have a few options for you. First, check out www.aboutfreelancewriting.com. She updates her job listings a few times a week. Usually you can find something there. Of course, there is Helium, Triond, and Associated Content. The earnings there tend to be pretty low, but publishing on Associated Content will give you some credibility. Also, if there's anything you're really an expert on, look at about.com. Look at the Be a Guide section of their website. Happy Writing!

I had a friend who did freelance work for some newspapers. You will need to dig up some stories of interest and submit them to newspapers, and if the newspaper likes them they may print them, or they may give an assignment on something they are looking for.
