I just finished building this one about 2 weeks ago. Cost $401CAD after shipping of all the parts and taxes. I call it my "budget machine" because it was so cheap, but everything was bought with a friends PP Membership at NCIX.com so I saved myself about $100-$150. Desktops are cheap these days, if you build them yourself you get alot higher quality parts and your not paying for the expensive labour of a prebuilt machine!

My first computer cost me around $800.00. It was a Dell computer. I had alot of problems with it and had to get technical support for it many times, even after the warranty had run out. I now have an Emachine and it cost me around $250.00. I have not had any problems with it yet.

I hope for your wallets sake that you were over exagerating. Since you said Intel Extreme, I can only assume its dual core and for that price you could have easily built 2 Quad core machines. 1,000 Memory doesnt mean much either, I could assume that you mean 1GB of Ram, in which case its worth about $25... I paid $46 for 2GB. Im not trying to bash on your or anything, just hoping that you are one of those people who got ripped off from like Futureshop or something... apologies in advance for anyone that takes this post negatively!

Ok, mine's almost 3 years old and this one cost me around 600 USD. I picked out the parts myself and I have to say it's doing what it supposed to for 3 years now.

We got this pc for about $400. It's a package deal including mouse, keyboard, and an LCD monitor.
