The smell of rain..

Oh yes! A lovely sensation! When I lived in africa we used to wait for the rains to come after the long dry winter with no rain for several months. It would get hotter and hotter and we would pray for rain and a cooling relief. Then one day you would smell the rain on the breeze hours before it arrived. Then it would start with a few big fat drops kicking up the dust and then whoooosh! Down it would come and with thunder and lightening. Great sensation. Then all the insects and plant life would be triggered. Clouds of flying termites would take of after boiling out of the soil and the sight of the birds gorging themselves on them. And green shoots springing up through blackened soil burnt from the bush fires. A lovely time of year.

I can usually smell the rain coming,especially in the spring. I like to leave my windows open enough so I can enjoy the smell in the house. In the winter I can also smell snow coming. Alot of people think I'm nuts but there is a certain odor in the air when it's going to snow.

Oh I too adore the scent of rain! I think scents as a whole are so inspiring, and we should take more time to stop and sniff!

Yes its true the rain is really fresh and clean when it rains come i would love to play in the rain with the kids.
