I am sorry to hurt other people's sensibilities but I think the bible is a collection of allegories which should not be taken as accurate. Mistakes can be made by assuming the bible to be the literal word of god. Scientists, using the bible as their yardstick once calculated the earth's age to be 6,000 years old. How crazy is that?

The Bible was written over a 1000 year period by people in many different walks of life, and all the different messages in the Bible are in complete agreement. It is scientifically accurate. It is enduring. I believe the Bible to be the inspired Word of God.

The Bible that we have today has "errors". I said "errors" because it was translated, although delicately, by human... and human is prone to commit mistake. The mistake that you can see in the bible is mistranslation that is why you need to go to the original transcript. Now, if you're asking if the Bible per se is authentic, i.e. with God's seal, then by faith, I will say YES. There's no other book as bold as the Bible giving accurate prophecies.

I suppose the bible is as authentic as any other document can be. The translations are not done by a single person but by a committee. There are at any one time many scholars studying the bible from the various sources and from the release of the bible until now there are people who are trying to prove that this holy book is not authentic and except for those who are unreasonable, none can prove that it is not authentic. The unreasonable people are the ones who claims that their holy book (which comes more than 600 years after the last bible book) says that it is not authentic. There are archives of these books written on papyrus found in the early days and they comfirm the authenticity of the current bibles.
