I am big fan of biographies and like to learn from real life experiences. Share with me your experiences about books you have read and what you have learnt from them.

I have read and enjoyed: Dolly, My Life and Other Unfinished Business by Dolly Parton It's Better to Laugh by Kathy Levine I've learned that both these ladies have a wonderful sense of humor and these books often made me laugh out loud. I have also read and enjoyed: Sweet Life by Barry Manilow It was fascinating to learn how he had been married young then divorced, how he had a long term live-in girlfriend, Linda (together yet when the book was written), how he met and played for Bette Midler, that as an adult...he met the father who abandoned him and that his first manager (or was it financial advisor) robbed him to the point he had nothing! I highly recommend all three of these.

I haven't read too many biographies, but I have read Night by Eli Weisel which I highly suggest, Alicia: My Story, X: which is about Malcom X, and I am working my way through Diary of Anne Frank. Oh and Angela's Ashes by Frank McCourt. Those are the only ones I have read and I enjoyed reading them. helps me learn a few things.

let's see I've read two about Gene Kelly, Cary Grant, Dean Martin (the one Jerry Lewis wrote), and now Bob Hope, there's a lot I want to read yet I want to read a Hillary Clinton and well any on anyone I admire. I have read a lot of books that weren't biographies so much but kind of along the lines, you know non fiction. Like Night, and the story about Columbine. I have read a lot of biographies I can't think of at the moment too. The list I wrote was just like in the last year.

STARS! - Celebrity gossip, biography, story, interesting
I have a particular interest in the entertainment field and so many of the biographies I have read have been of celebrities. The most recent one I read was Ava Gardner and it was fascinating. I have read several different books about Marilyn Monroe. I agree with you that it is really neat to learn more about people to understand them better and get more insight. It's not a biography, but I'm very interested in "The Audacity of Hope" by Barack Obama. I think he might be a serious presidential contender and so I'm very interested in learning about how he thinks.
