Is the price of everything going up in this world?

I really need to vent, please read this. OK, so this Titanic Exhibition is currently going in our state's capital at an exhibition center. I love history so my boyfriend decided to take tomorrow off from work to take our daughter and I to see the exhibit. On the exhibit's webpage it says it's a good idea to purchase your tickets online in advance. So I go to ticketmaster to buy the tickets so we'd be all set tomorrow. To my dismay this is how much it would have cost for the 3 of us (2 adults and one 3 year old) to get into the exhibit. $83.00!! The tickets were $22.00 per adult/$18.00 for my daughter, plus a $6.00 convenience charge (whatever that it) plus a building facility charge of $1.00 per ticket! That is $29.00 per adult and $25 per child!! It is outrageous. Never mind the cost of gas to get there plus parking in the parking garage. It seems like this summer we'll have to be making our own fun at home. Everything is so expensive these days. Are the prices going up on everything everywhere or is only here in Connecticut USA?

I'm afraid you are quite right! Actually,it is not only the US but many other European or Asian countries that face the problem of serious inflation. I doubt that the whole world is just experiencing the new inflation cycle nowadays, and this may last for a long time, say more than 5 years. So,this is reasonable for economic development, and what we can do is trying to earn more money to support our lives!

It is a scary thought though for many people especially for families who have more than one mouth to feed. I don't know what it will be like but I do pray for everyone who is already feeling the pain and the burden of certain things already as some things have hit a big time high.

I know what you mean. I used to go to concerts alot in the 80's. The prices started going higher and higher. Well, I found a way around it now. I got a job at a outdoor concert venue that is 7 miles from my house. I work in the box office and we have a monitor to watch the shows on, and when we take breaks, we can pop in and watch some of the show. Or when we're done for the night we just go watch. We do use the Ticketmaster (ticketbast*rd) system. You pay the ticket price, plus tickmasters service charge, which is about 10% of the ticket price, and the venue charge, usually another $4-$8. If you purchse ahead of the show date at the venue, you can usually save the venue charge. Which is better than nothing. #:)

How neat that you can work there and peek in on the shows. That sounds like a really cool job! Thanks for sharing your story.

Prices are just going up all over the world and 9/11 is always used as an excuse. My BF and I saw the Titanic exhibition in London. It was incredibly expensive but we thoroughly enjoyed it. Lucky for me I had a good job at the time and just breathed in. But $83 is a little steep in this day and age where people are desperately trying to rub two cents together. Flying is supposedly cheaper but you could have fooled me. Any excuse to add on more taxes. They use the environment as an excuse but it is just a way for them to get more money. Why don't they find better fuel instead? So, yeah, in answer to your question the price of every day living is going up and up and up....

Glad to hear you were able to go and view the exhibit. My boyfriend and I may just go ourselves and leave our daughter with my mother for a couple of hours so we don't have to pay $18 to have her get in. She is only three and won't remember it, I really don't want to miss it!!

everything is going up these days. Recently when you shop in supermarket, you will found the price is higher than before, such as rice, edible oil and so on.

Prices at the grocery store are way up there. Milk has gotten so expensive, same with eggs. Families need these items to feed their families. The government needs to step in to protect the working class families.

That does sound pretty expensive. It's a good thing you checked prices before going? We're in Oklahoma - prices going up all over here too. Everything from gas to food. I think we'll be making our own fun at home this summer too.

Yes it does seem to be going up on everything now because of the gas prices. It looks like its only going to get worse. We are spending more time at home now too. I use to love to travel but I have had to cut way back.

here in our country the price of everything is getting more and more burdensome for ordinary people. all of the grocery items, foods, including gas have increase their prices, LPG and transportation cost also gets into our nerves. i don't get to understand why on earth the price of everything keeps rising when infact our monetary currency is getting higher value now and dollar is deflating.

Hi there. Yes I think everything here in my country is on the rise, from petrol to food. And we all know its just going to rise even more. Prices for things in such a short time have sky rocketed unbelievibly. Have a neat day.

Yeah prices are going up fast everything is going up except for our checks. Really I think this is a major problem and would love to see the next president deal with this problem. If this continues I bet we will have another depression. I just wish the government would do something aboult this especially lowering food products. Which that has skyrocketed.

And most likely when you get there they will be selling refrshments and it will cost $3 for a pop $4 for a hot dog etc. I took my kids to see The Wiggles in Concert it cost $100 altogehter for 3 tickets plus fees, $3 parking fee, and $7 for 3 bottle of pop! I couldn't beleive it! I won't be going to any more things like that for awhile.

No I am afraid it it going up everywhere, I tend to stay home most days due to that fact. It is not easy especially for people with kids. I don't have any and at this rate if finances don't improve or stuff doesn't come back down which I very much doubt they will, then I guess I may not have them any time soon. It is a shame what is happening and how much some of these businesses are profiting. Everyone I guess could speak with their wallets and just not go but then what fun would that be and none to be had?
