Does anyone know anything about tooth infections?? I have a wisdom tooth that was supposed to be pulled out years ago and I forgot about it until a few weeks ago when it started to hurt....I went to the dentist and they said that because it was infected I would need to take antibiotics for a week and also have a specialist pull it out because of the way it is positioned....It has been two weeks and I have made many calls back and forth to the dentist and the specialist and the tooth is still not out....I am having severe pain and I am having to take strong pain killers every couple of hours.....the pain is causing headaches and earaches and my jaw is swollen....I think this is serious but the dentist is not taking it seriously and when I called today she refused to see me for a check up and told me to just take more pain killers and wait it out until an opening came up with the specialist....this is ridiculous...I have heard that you can get infections on your brain and things like that from tooth infections and even die....I am very worried about this....any opinions or suggestions???

get another dentist asap-or even go to the hospital if you must.
you can get blood poisoning among other things-
i speak from experience.i had a tooth that caused an abcess up my nose and caused me to lose my sense of smell permanent.
