Best Thing About Owning Stocks -- Voting

I love getting the notices of shareholder meetings. Not that I can afford to attend. But, I send in my proxy ballot. It's so much fun to think your vote is affecting the way a whole big company is run. if there is room on the ballot to mention other issues, I always tell them to make sure all business is conducted in accordance with human rights law. And nothing violates the human trafficking treaty. If I am going to be a socially responsible investor, I am darn well going to do my part to make sure the company acts in a socially responsible manner -- even if I only hold a few shares.

For me stock market is a very serious business an i invest a good amount of my saving here. My investments are well studied and analysed and my husband is even maintaining a blog for the same. We invest both for short term and long term and have been making good money out here. As far as meetings are concerned i have not attended any but surely go through the agenda very carefully. I love to study the annual report as it reveals a lot about the company and then make my investment decisions accordingly.
