Maybe most of you are not understand Tibet's history, so if you don't know someone then you don't say somethings about he or she, the same, Tibet is a name you used but we call it "xizang" and i'm sure xizang is one place that my motherland-CHINA have the own right. So if you donn't know please don't call the old name "tibet", but the real name "xizang"! Anyone have interesting in xizang history can ask me for some pictures or messages! So thank you very much! everyone have right to love his motherland!

hmmmm...i think we call it Tibet because that is the word authors use in textbooks and other references. It is know as Tibet so most people are used to call it Tibet. i think it is not right to demand it from people, we have our own views and own comprehension of things. as they said, TO EACH HIS OWN.

Thanks for that information. I think most Americans believe the Chinese conquered Tibet in the 1950s and the Tibetans are trying to regain their freedom. They don't really get that Tibet has been part of China for 700 years and that British interference at the first half of the last century is what started the turmoil there today. (Or that the CIA's support of rebels there made things worse.) It makes as much sense for Americans to demand China "Free Tibet" as it would for the Chinese to demand that America "Free California." Actually, California has a better claim to independence than Tibet does. California shares a border with Mexico and was once part of Mexico. More than half of its population is now of Mexican ancestry.

Lots of countries and cities are known as different names around the world. This is probably the case with Tibet, as that is what we call it in the west, whereas in China it is known as xizang. Both are correct. Scotland is called many differnt things around the world and all are correct for that country. I have no interest or right to demand that everyone refers to Scotland as Alba. I would be interested to know the Chinese version of Scotland.
