I just wondered if anyone else felt the way that I do about our society today not allowing children to be just that a child. I went to my daughters school a couple of days ago and you know how kids play around with each. Well my daughter and a couple of friends were playing around and one friend which was a boy was playing with 2 of his female friends, one being my daughter. And a teacher passed by and saw this, asked for their names and sent the boy to the office and he was given detention, but the others were not even questioned about the incident or what was going on. She just automatically sent him to detention even though he tried to explain that they were only playing around. What is wrong with our world?

I believe that kids should be kids and you slowly add responsibility as the child gets more physically, emotionally, and psychologically ready to handle and accept it. I disagree with loading up children with busywork and homework, learning should be fun and there should be more emphasis put on study skills and learning how to learn, and the basic skills such as READING and comprehension which allows people to learn. Also, there needs to be expectations which are the same for everybody, from skill levels to grades to behavior at school and other extra curriculars and logical consequences for poor behavior and/or choices no matter what.

I know exactly what you mean and that is precisely why the kids are not happy, they are too busy wondering if they are going to get in trouble and what people are going to think instead of trying to learn from the mistakes that are made and having fun. People need to raise their children and teach them instead of relying on the government or the police to do it for them.

We have new sayings in our rule book that things must be politically correct and people take this as the action to do without thinking situations through properly and making decisions to suit the occasion.

we have to let the children play and never deprive them on things that are happening around.. they have to enjoy their time being kids because it is fun to play and run about.. we parents should allow them and when they hurt themselves let them stood up alone.. tis a learning phase for the kids as well.

I think you are right in your observations. I also think that we need to take in account that even though our kids are maturing quickly we need to give them the time to mature beyond this.

Not really sure what you meant by what you said but if you were saying they should be treated as such up to 4 or 5th grade, I think you are wrong. Thye are still kids far beyond that.
