Independence - Independence is being free to be yourself and express yourself. It is being self reliant and depending on yourself rather than others.
I'm not sure I understand your question. I think I'm extremely independent. Who are you referring to by "we"? I'm a 52 year old female US Citizen. I'm a widow and I believe I'm totally independent. I rely on no-one other than myself. If that's not independence, then I'm not sure what is.

No, because you are in a society, everything is related, and you cant do things "independently".
