Squirrels!!

OK, I am an animal lover, but as of late, a family of squirrels are driving my family crazy! They have made a home in the overhang of my house. They actually ripped the siding off and looks like they chewed through some wood to get into my eaves. The noise they make in there all day long is so loud and they are terrorizing my cats! Yes, they are terrorizing my cats, not the other way around. They have babies so I don't want to kick them out, but my poor cats can't step foot outside without the mother or father squirrel following them around the yard making these clicking noises at them. Has anyone ever had this happen to their house or does anyone have any advise on how to handle this? Humane solutions only please. Thank you

When I had a similar problem recently and expressed that I thought it might be squirrels in my loft, a friend informed me that you can buy humane traps big enough to trap a squirrel, even big enough to trap a cat or possum, so maybe if you got hold of a couple of those, repaired the hole and set them free some distance from your home, it might help. I've looked them up and found one that costs $30, but if you can't afford that, I would suggest you look on E-Bay, or somewhere. Here's the link. The trap looks pretty sturdy to me, and should do the job well... http://www.pestproducts.com/squirrel_trap.htm Good luck. I hope this will be of some help to you. Brightest Blessings.

I think once the babies are no longer nursing and are more independent I will purchase some humane traps. We have lots of woods and marsh on the outskirts of our neighborhood. That is where we can drop them off. Hopefully they won't find their way back. Thanks for posting Darkwing!

Yes, rather than separate them. You're welcome, my friend.

Thank you for BR, my friend. I hope you manage to get rid of the squirrels without too much trauma to them. Have a great day!

My family has a bad squirrel problem too! They always get into the alley between our house and our next door neighbors' house and knock over the trash cans. They get in and spill the trash all over. It's an annoying mess!xD Unfortunately, I'm not sure how to get rid of them humanely, either.

Luckily they haven't gotten into the trash here. That is primarily the job of the raccoons in the neighborhood. Hope you can resolve your squirrel problem too!
