My pets are my life. They mean the world to me. There are a total of nine dogs living with me and my family in our 2 story house. Each individual one chooses which "human" they are going to sleep with at night. Most of the time I have to share my bed with Maggie, Alex and Brandi. But usually by the next morning a few more have been added. Of course I can't say no. I was wonering how many people out there allow their animal companions to sleep on their bed with them?

I have 2 chihuahuas and I don't normally let them in my bed. If Bella gets the door to my room open they will both come running in. Bella is tall enough that she can jump on the bed. Gizmo is just a little shorty and can't get up on his own. So the stands on the side of the bed and keeps pulling my blanket and sheet until I pick him up and let him on the bed. If I am just napping they sometimes come in or if I am getting dressed I will let the up on the bed for a bit.
They both know that when I go to bed at night they are not invited so they don't even bother to try then.
Blessed be, Mari

Thanks for the response. I also have a chinchilla named Buddy. He is a standard grey. He normally spends most of his time in his cage because he likes to chew everything in sight!!!! When the weather is warm and I take him outside to enjoy some sunshine for a little. Do you allow your chinchillas free run of the house?

We just recently got a new puppy and for now he sleeps in his kennel at night. My 3 year old daughter wantes him to sleep with her in her bedroom but I have to keep him in the kennel as that he is not fully potty trained yet and chews on most everthing in sight when he is not attended. Just a min ago my daughter was playing with her Don't Break the Ice game and he took of with one of the pieces I got that away from him and he took off the with the hammer. so up to the table we moved with the game. LOL I am hoping he catches on soon about not chewing but being a golden retriever not sure how soon that will happen.

LOL!! Its a good thing that your new little puppy sleeps in his kennel at night for now. It has to be comical watching your daughter trying to play with her game and the little guy stealing everything and getting into trouble!!! Good thing the game is allowed only on the table now!! I work as a licensed veterinary technician and we see alot of "foreign bodies" every year. Some of the objects that we surgically remove from patients are rocks, socks, toys, chew bones, string, carpet fibers, plastic bags, twist ties, shoe strings, and large clumps of straw or grass. Thats only naming a few things. So please account for all the toys and small pieces in your house. Trust me it will save you alot of money and your pet alot of unnecessary pain in the future. Good luck with your little guy!!!!

Yes it is commical she yells MOOSE then MOM. You have to laugh at her. Now I just have to figure out how to get him to stop chewing everything in site. This morning he was trying to chew on my wall. And he loves it when the girls get into the wipes box and leave one where he can get it. you always know cause he has a little pile of shredded paper where he tore it up. LOL

And I thought our three dogs were a lot, but yes we let them sleep with us they don't so much anymore as they use to though I don't know if it's the new bed (not any higher we just have a head/foot/side boards now) or if it's because I get up at least two times a night with the baby but it's rare anymore we find them in bed with us.

I used to let my cat sleep on my bed; but she ate my string curtains and kept throwing the strings up, so I had to keep her out.

i love my dog but i refused to sleep with him, at least i wont allow my dog to sleep on my bed. You see, yes i hold him when i watch tv or i will allow him to sleep with me on the couch but he mustnt go onto the bed with me at night. I sleep naked and that is for my own health i am not going adult content or anything here, so if i allow him, all those dirts on him would get onto me, and that is...

Currently my cat will find a place to sleep with us on the bed. Before I became pregnant and had my son, my Siberian Husky/Alaskan Malamute used to sleep on the bed with us. It seems so strange to think back on it now, LOL!

im not really much of a dog or cat lover....im just the type of person who just adores a dog or a cat but not really think of keeping them in my home...specially on my bed...i think if we have a dog at hom and i love that dog...the closes it can sleep on is in my bedroom floor....definitely not in my bed.

My dog would no more sleep on her own than not eat a bone.!
she is a heat seeking missile...at night it is strait to our bed. and she is a bed Hog...Lord have mercy if my husband and i want some intimacy...definitely put a damper on our Love life...
we have a chi-weenie, named Roxy...I gotta say...She is probably the Love of my life.!

Hey, lotsofpuppies07,
I let my black lab puppy (growing fast and around 40 lbs. now) sleep with me. I have a king size bed but I have very little room to move because he hogs the pillow and everything else. When he wants me to get up in the a.m. he will start by licking my face and putting his paws on my face too. Sometimes he will fall back to sleep and put his face next to mine. It makes me feel more secure with him since my husband passed away 4 months ago.

Cdejac,
I am so sorry to hear about your husband. :( I am so happy that you have found a special companion that will love you unconditionally. Sounds like your little guy needs you as much as you need him. Puppy kiss always make things better!!!!!

my mom does this as well! she has a yorkie/palmeranian mix who weighs 4 pounds her husband made steps so she can go and come as she pleases its funny to watch her get on and off. what do you do when you leave? is your pup potty trained?

Yes thank goodness they are potty trained!!! The only time I move the steps is if I'm changing or making the bed. They don't tear it up but they do move the pillows so they can get under the covers. They also know "you ready to go to bed".Animals are funny. They will also make your sad day good.

I have 5 Pekingese, 2 Boarder Collie mixed mutts, and 2 Brittney Spaniels.... The pekingese "kids" have been sleeping with us since day one, the collie mixes were strays I found along the road about 3 years ago... they both fit in a cat carrier... so were probabily between 6 and 8 weeks old...got dumped off. I seperated them from the other dogs...good thing I did 4 days after I had them they started vomiting alot and had diarrhea...PARVO!!!!! So they were under Veterinary care for 2 weeks. They are all up on their shots and doing great! Spoiled as ever!!! The Brittney Spaniels sleep in their crates or on the floor most of the time.

My husband and I always allow our cats to sleep in the bed with us. We're all very comfortable in bed, and the cats don't take up much room. When we want to be intimate, we close the door, so the cats aren't distracting us. LOL

i have three cats and they are my 'children'. i always tell others that i have a daughter and two sons. that said, you can guess that they share my bed with me. my girl will wait for me to go to bed every night. if i stay up too late, she'd protest loudly and walk in front of me until i follow her to bed. i sleep on a queen size bed so she'll take one side while i take the other. my boys don't usually join me on the bed coz my girl doesn't like it. but sometimes i'd wake up to my longhair boy using my leg as a pillow. :p
