Hey guys Crystal here with another sprain for your brain. I just recently viewed a movie about dinosaurs on the SciFi channel entitled "Dinatopia" and this got me to thinking. There is no reference of dinosaurs in the Bible at all not in the first chapter of Genesis where God created the heavens and the earth. So I pose this question. Where do dinosaurs come from? Do you think they truly existed? If so what proof is there really? Take into consideration that Adam and Eve were not cavemen, so where did this belief come from? I want to hear from you!! What do you think?

Hi Crystal. Your giving us quite a run for our brains huh, hehehe. Well, your question taps on 2 different and sometimes opposing views. You know how religion and science are always at each others's throats(if they have one). So how am I going to pen down my opinion..?
Ok, Il try. here goes:
On religion type of perspective, dinosaurs materialized on earth during teh first few days of Creation. I dont really remember the order but I knwo that within those days God made animals and maybe thats when Dinosaurs first came to.
On a scientific perspective, everything came from asteroid dust. Then there was evolution, from just tiny organisms to full blown huge reptiles. Is this ok so far?hehehe
I think yeah they truly existed becaue of the fossils that were found by scientists and such and these are evidences of their lives.
This is what I think and its nice to hear form other salos. Waht about you Crystal?whats your take on this?^_^

My take on this is I am at a crossroads where I don't know what to believe. I see your point about the fossils, but what if they were not real. Dinosaurs were also carniverous creatues, not all of them but some of them. So why is there no mention of them roaming the earth and eating people back in biblical days? If they existed back then what did they eat?

you're really ponding on the questions there arent ya. hehe
well, we can never really know for sure if the fossils are real. About the dinosaurs and the bible...Are you really sure the Bible is real? That its not made up by a bunch of old men? Well, since you asked, there are lots of things not mentioned on the Bible. There are only select animals, select names/people, select other things. This is probably because the focus of the Bible is not how the world came to be(we have science for that) but its about God, and Jesus, and the redemption of our souls(or something like it.
Im humoring you right now, hhmm, what could have the dinosaurs eat for breakfast..My imagination tells me, the ones who eat grass are very isolated that they dont know anything else and dont see anything else around them except for grass. The ones who eat meat have a lot of enemies and they ate their enemies and they liked it. Thats why they keep on eating meat. The ones who like both are the grass-saurs before but tasted and liked meat too. So they shift from meat and grass whenever and whatevers available on the menu.
Whew!Thats a lot of imagining. Good exercise for the brain. thanks!^_^

There's a book out by Neil Gaiman & Terry Pratchett entitled Good Omens. In it is a reference to dinosaurs that made me laugh, and makes sense in the context of your discussion.
There's an excerpt in the beginning of the book that's telling who figured out that the Earth was created in 4004 b.c. on Sunday, October 21st at exactly 9:00 a.m, and then there's this:
"The whole business with the fossilized dinosaur skeletons was a joke the paleontologists haven't seen yet."
My personal belief is that dinosaurs lived alongside people, and that the earth is NOT hundreds of millions of years old. I believe, since there are so many medieval references to dragons, some that fly and some that don't, they were referring to dinosaurs. Probably these were some of the last dinosaurs, but there it is nonetheless. "Dragons" are also referred to in the Bible, as are Behemoth and Leviathan. Behemoth is given an actual physical description, and it fits with the size of a Brachiosaur. A "dinosaur" wouldn't be mentioned in the Bible b/c the Bible was translated in 1611, and the word "dinosaur" wasn't coined until the 1800s.
I found this great website for you to check out. It's written for young teens to understand, but it's very thorough. I haven't reached the required number of posts to copy/paste a link, but you can copy/paste the typed address into your search bar. Hope it helps!
