Should there be capital punishment in Canada?

Here in Canada we abolished capital punishment in 1976, and replaced it with a mandatory life sentence without the possibility of parole for 25 years. Our military continued handing out death sentences in the worst but rarest cases. In 1987 a motion to reestablish capital punishment was debated and defeated. In 1998 our military fell in line with the rest of the country and discontinued use of capital punishment. Even in extradition cases, Canada will seek assurance that no death penalty will be imposed, and if it is not carried out.
What do you think of this, do you agree with it?
why or why not?
Is the a death penalty where you live?
Are you happy there is or isn't a death penalty where you live?

I think it shall be up to the majority of what the people of Canada think. I am from the United States and do not a whole lot about the things that go on in Canada. I just hope that they do the right thing for the people that reside there.
