If you could go back and change something in your life, what would it be? I would change the day i first started smoking.

I would change my college major to something besides teaching. I've found being a teacher to be very hard, never-ending work, and spending your whole life taking guff from parents, children, and administrators. All that for very low pay as far as professional jobs go. My son got out of college and started his first job with a higher salary than I get. I'm sure there has to be something better out there that I could have studied that would have been both enjoyable and more lucrative.

Thank you so much for posting. My mom is a teacher too, the only thing is she did not have to take the guff from the parents and administrators. In most of asia teaching is considered a highly respected profession. There is more respect for a teacher there than here. It is suprisingly different here, teachers don't seem to get the respect or the recognition they deserve. Are you frustrated with the salary you got or the way you were treated?
