well! I have problem playing a simple vcd file i.e. a dat format file on windows 98 SE . Latest video & Audio codecs didnt solve it .
Actually I need exact source filter for a dat file . it has not been resolved since one and half years .
Now I use VLC media player to view vcd s .
It has its own set of codecs . Media classic player may also be used .

I am using Windows xp Sp2 , I haven`t used win98 se long time but u can try to download some audio/video codecs or codec packs at www.free-codecs.com VLC Media player is a good choice, i use bsplayer and K-lite codec pack and haven`t got any problems with dat format files!
