My mother and I decided to walk to the shops today. It is a 20 min walk each way. When we were already out the door, I saw that she was dressed very lightly. It was about 18 degrees Celsius and a little windy so I told her to get a jacket. At her age (early 70's) she's prone to sickness. She refused and insisted that she'll be fine. In her own words, she said she'll "be able to stand the cold". She'd just arrived from the tropics 2 weeks ago and she was sniffling earlier. She also has a cough that never seems to go away. I reminded her of this but she wouldn't listen. I got so mad at her I was grumbling all the way to the shops. Mothers have rules and we have to strictly follow them. I remember when she used to remind me not to go out in the cold but now she's not following her instructions. Has something like this happened to you? Why is it difficult for our parents to listen to us?
