Which makes more ptc sites or survey sites?

I am just curious, because I have not had any luck with the ptc sites, I have put in quite a few hours on a couple and I only make a couple of cents each. When I do the survey sites, I have made $10-$20 a day. Do you have to sign up for multiple ptc sites to make any money or do you have to pay for the referrals or what?
