I bought a computer that is considered fast and good in game applications. The price is expensive because of its performance and considered to have the latest chipset at that time. However after six to nine months, it is no loger considered as top of the line. New chipset was released and the current price of my computer goes down. Why is it this is the trend in computers as well as in cellular phones? These electronic devices depreciates so fast.

Well buddy this problem is faced by all of us. According to a survey all the scientific information becomes outdated in a weeks. I never upgrade to a new chipset, when something better then the older one comes the previous chipset becomes cheap. You should not try to have the fastest pc with the latest upgrades, you just use the pc that fulfils your need of processing. Although we have core2duo out there but I still use pentium 4 because it satisfies my needs and I am happy with that.

Everything depreciates in value in due time....
Computers, cellphones, houses, cars, as almost everything rust, tarnishes, or even deteriorates their value is likely to depreciate.
I think the only thing that doesn't depreciate is LAND (unless you live near a fault line or near a chemical/nuclear plant).
Don't invest so much in electronic stuff as they tend to be outmoded in as little as 2 months.

Technology is advancing at a great pace, and the popularity of computers causes many companies to invest heavily on progress to stay ahead of the market.
The fastest processor or largest hard drive is usually very costly compared with the nearest competitor, so as soon as a faster model comes out the price will plummet.

yeah that happen to me four years before, i bought the best computer in that time, and after one year its value goes down, i think if we wait a little bit we will have everything in cheap price, it happens because the competition between the manufacturers increases, everything is competition this days, and my best computer is still dell, i like dell, you don't even think about hardware failure, am using it for four years and nothing ever happened to it, its the best, anyways happy mylotting!!
