Which are you? A realist? An optimist or a pessimist?
I think that realist is the perfect state and I like to say I am realist, but this can be effected by my mood, if I am down then I am pessimistic and if I am up then I am optimistic. It also depends, who I am talking to. If I am talking to a pessimist, then I will be optimistic to balance them out to a realistic state. Similarly, if I am talking to an optimist then I am going to be pessimistic to balance it to a state of realism.
To me realistic people can see the good and the bad in a situation, whereas optimists will be disappointed if the best does not happen, while pessimists will not be able to see it when the good happens.

I think I would fall into realist category. I am not an optimist most of the time and I would rather think realistic than try hard to be optimistic only to be disappointed.
For me it's better to be an optimist and then get positive outcome from my expectations than the other way around.
I am a very keen observant so I base things on my previous experiences.

I also like to learn from my past experiences too and hope that they serve me well in the future, which is one of the reasons that I don't regret anything.

I loved that film. I thought it was great! As was the first Princess Diaries.

I think that is a good state to be in, because you are positive yet not unrealistic.

Hi friend,
i am an optimist. My optimism, positive thinking and faith in God helped in many troubled situations. I tell to my friends about being positive minded.
Thanks

I agree that how we think can influence what happens in our lives, because if you believe it can happen then you will go for it and you have more of chance of it happening, but if you don't believe it will happen then you never go for it.

I'm an optimist, in that I believe things will work out. I try not to associate with many negative people or people who constantly drag me down. Now, I'm not saying that I don't have bad or negative feelings or days, but that happens to everyone.
Most days, though, I try to be the happy spot in the room, the uplifting spirit for everyone. I like to bring brightness and joy. Maybe I annoy some people with my tendencies. I hope not! I'm also a people pleaser and worry about what others think of me.

I try not to associate myself with negativity either as it does get you down.

I like to think that I am an optimist, but there are moments when I am down, and at my lowest. I think being an optimist is trying your best to see the silver lining, the good within the bad.

Im a realist i prefer to see the good and bad.
I think im less likely to be dissapointed if im realistic about things but equally im never all that surprised either lol.
Although it is true what you say that who you are talking to will make a difference in how you come across as sometimes you need to balance things up for people especially to stop them getting hurt.

I never thought of it that way ... about never being suprised. I realised I was setting myself up for not being too disappointed.
