lots of contestants today were are being out of the POPULARITY SHOW..
i think that it is better to change the show into a talent show instead..in my point of view, lots of talents are just being wasted.

American Idol is just that a talent show. Simon said he will pull the show if it stayed a popularity contest. He knows several times the right person did not win.
He pointed out that Taylor Hicks won because of his popularity, not his talent.
Simon is in control, so whoever wins this year, hopefully is the one that is the most talented DAVID COOK and not the one who is more popular.

My husband had an interesting idea that could change the whole popularity thing around, if people were able to post negative votes as well. So all of the negative votes would have to be subtracted from the positive ones. That could get pretty hairy though. They could allow just one negative vote per household.

I'm not sure it's even popularity, it's whoever's liked by people who have the patience to dial and text for two hours nonstop. And then there's the people who are influenced to vote by votefortheworst.com who just like having fun mucking up the results. Idol ought to find some way to limit the number of votes, only a certain number per phone number like Dancing with the Stars does.
