Internet has helped me to develop quite a few extra hobbies like photography, websites making and stuff and there are some more I want to explore on the list. Also, I have been enjoying the communities here and make a bit of extra money over the internet. I think it stimulates my brain to keep on learning new things.

There are so many ways. First, it allowed me to be reunited with a cousin I hadn't seen since 1983. We finally got to meet, on on the web in 1999!
I take classes online, which can be really helpful.
I've met my latest GF, throuhg Myspace, or maybe that was craigslist. We started as a just platonic. Have been working on an indy film. Now, she's cooking food, and I'm taking out trash, and looking after the cat...I'm not sure if I'm getting the better deal, tho! LOL!

Yes, the internet has helped me advance quite a bit!
I do my banking online, I get my music online, I take educational courses online, I buy and sell articles online, I communicate with my relatives and friends that are far away, and communicate with people I've never met, that live in other parts of the world and country, and I do shopping online also!
And I also receive weather reports online also!
And I get a lot of useful information from the web!

the ease of crossing distances and meeting people id not otherwise have met with this little box of circuits and electricals is astounding. and these people havent remained inside the box, but have crossed over into RL as well as we get together face to face as often as we can. without it, i wouldnt have my husband of 9 years, or our daughter. or some of the best friends i have ever had in my entire life. without it, the circle of possibilities are limited to the area you live in, with it.. the entire world is at your fingertips.

It's helped make life better for me in several ways. I'm also glad I'm able to sell my artwork online, and get it exposed to a larger audience. I've made some great friends online over the years, and the internet has made it much easier to keep in touch with RL friends who've moved far away. It also has helped me find information on things much easier - I live in a small town with a fairly small library so the reference material there is limited, but the internet has a lot of good sources of information if there's something I need to know or am interested in learning about.

Congratulations on being able to sell your artwork online, too!
That's great that you can supplement the information you need by using the internet.
The internet gives us access to some excellent sources for accurate information.
Being that I am a librarian, in addition to an artist, I appreciate your interest in increasing your knowledge base.

Internet has been a boon in disguise for me. It has helped me a lot in searching material for my projects , submissions. Apart from that i am reunited now with my old friends thru orkut and facebook. Also mylot has given me wonderful friends all over the world. I find it a great tool for communication. But if not used properly it can be a dangerous tool too. Have a nice day.

I think one of the great innovations in the IT world has been the advent and proliferation of the internet. The internet has benefited me in many positive ways. It is my window to the world. From my PC, I have been able to access to vast amounts of information from sites all over the world, something I lack in the days when I can only depend on printed media to get hold of information for my research. Through the efficient search engines, I can virtually get hold of any information on any subject, and open my mind to the vast information store out there. I have also been able to download lots of graphics, photos, videos, cliparts and songs. I am able to buy and sell items on the internet to anyone out there through online classifieds, take part in auctions, buy online directly from company websites, book rooms and rent cars when I wanted to holiday overseas, make online applications for services, take part in surveys, etc. and there are many other gains I have reaped working the internet. The internet has also enabled me to stay at home and do my internet business from home. One of the best advantages for me have been the ease with which I can communicate with my relatives and friends without paying additional charges. It is especially useful when I communicate with my brother and his family who is living in Australia at any time, without paying any IDD charges which can be hefty. I don't know how it will be for me if tomorrow, the internet is taken away from my life. Certainly, life will never be the same again when I am unplugged from the world through technology.

Yeah there are many wonderful things about it and being able to connect with people from all corners of the earth is really wonderful and is something that we all I think appreciate because it makes it so easy and so much more cheaper than other means too. I think the opportunities that it has opened up for all of us is really something that can not be taken for granted because there is nothing else like it at the moment. I love being in this time and being able to enjoy it. I mean to say that there was a time when I would communicate less but because of this technology it has opened up doors on many fronts for me. I am enjoying it immensely.

I completely understand the socializing aspect that you are speaking about.
It is really difficult, at times, to maintain a balance between internet use and socializing in real life.
This issue has been a challenge for me, too.
