What is this LOL ??

As so many people have already filled you in on what it means I don't need to repeat them. But I would like to say that when I first started posting in forums I didn't have a clue what it meant either and I started a discussion here in mylot and asked about it, too. I was surprised by how many people use different abreviations like that one when we get paid by the length of our discussions and responses so why not just type out the whole words? Well I now use some short terms of words too and I also use the mylot smiley codes instead, like this one. just because it is easier and because I like the look of the smilies on people responces.

It means "Laughing out Loud!" It is what you use in text messaging where something is so funny that it cannot be taken that seriously. It should be used with care because many put the LOL when they are recalled tragic or abusive events. I think they do that so they do not go insane from thinking about it. It does seem to be very popular though.
