it already happened on me lol i rejected my close friend which was my bf right now because i have a bf that time. i'm too lucky that i choose the one i'm with right now and i'm happy about it. but i guess you're just only attracted to that girl that you've been talking

love does exist and it is the best feeling in the world although in your case I would say that co-workers are not the best way to find love just because it does complicate things at work which is why most companies have a no dating policy in place. If she rejected you it is probably best to move on and find other people... I myself went through something sort of similar in which to this day I still find myself wondering what he is doing or where he is at even though I have found someone new and I love him with all my heart I can not help but wonder where this other guy is. so to save yourself from the heartbreak I would say move on with your life. Also a crush is called a crush for a reason. I do not know how old you are but crushes come and go love lasts a lifetime.
