I had a daughter, but my cats (and dogs)are my kids. I refer to them as my kids. They are the ones who give the purest love a person could receive. It isn't driven by what they can get out of you monetarily or by being boughten by expensive gifts, it is driven by the love and treatment that you give to them. You can have a horrible day and come home and they are there loving you anyhow. They don't judge you on how you look, how much money you make, what kind of home you live in, what kind of car you drive, or even if you are skinny or over weight. They love you just for you. It is heartwarming to see even the homeless people with their animals- the dogs or cats will look into the person's face with pure love and devotion.
It's too bad that the people around you can't understand how deep your caring goes for your companions. They are missing a lot, because the love that you have for your companions extends to the people around you. It also affects the way that you treat your Mother and friends. But, humans judge on a different level than our companions do...like right now I have two dogs curled up beside me and 3 of the 8 cats are sleeping beside the dogs...and they all make sure that they are touching me.
Don't worry about your Mother and friends not understanding your feelings for your cats... they just don't feel the bond for companion animals that some of the population (like us) feel for the four legged furry people in our lives.

I love your words. I feel the same way. Unconditional love. Money or no money. They are your true family. At least they are mean.

I currently have two of the cats, Willy and Khuay on my lap. I'm trying to do homework and they are wanting loving. I wish they could do the accounting homework for me! LOL. It is so nice having the crew on the couch with me...the two dogs and the two cats. I wouldn't have my home any other way....

There is nothing wrong with loving pets. I believe God gave us them to love and take care of and to keep us company. When I was little girl, my Grandmother told me to stay away from people that don't like animals, she believed that those kind of people don't care about people either.

I never had any children either and am happy about that. Children are a pain. But cats are different. I have four cats and love them dearly. I feed and play with them all of the time. At night, two of the cats sleep on the bed with me, and in the morning, the cats always get breakfast first.

Hi there.. is 1963 your date of birth ? Why dont you have your own children. I am not the one you are looking for rearing cats and looking at them as children. But how you picture yourself is like the movie catwoman starring Haley Berry right ? Anyway you do whats best for you.
Have a nice day.

My cats are my children too. My boyfriend and I have 6 indoor cats and they mean the world to us. They get birthday presents and we have the Easter Kitty and Santa Kitty come to them, and every year they have a halloween treat because they are all named after Halloween themes. I love them to pieces. They bring me so much joy. My sister can not understand it either, but she is not much of a pet person. My other sister has a dog and she gets a bday present and Santa Paws comes to her.
I think it is great that you treat your cats like children. I totally get it. After all cats are like children in fur coats.

As long as you're happy, who cares what others think?! We're a huge animal loving family so we fully understand that your pets are your family too!

I always have one or more pets, I don't have children at all but I love my pets so much. Right now I only have one but I will get more if we can afford it. I can not have children due to medical condition, but if I can, I will teach them how to treat their pets. If I were to bring another living being home, I would make my home theirs too. Why get a pet if we just abuse or neglect it? Just like if we plant a tree we should also water it and care for it.

There are more of us out here than you can imagine, Janette. My dad is the only one out of my family and some of my friends who can relate to our pets being our kids. Even thou I have a human daughter, I still have my 3 fursons and a furdaughter. I can't even think of not having my furbabies around me.

I have cats, I don't even care that much for human children - oh, once they are "housebroken" they are all right, but on the whole...
I love all of the cats, well I do love some more than others, and one I don't care that much for, but I don't hate her, just don't love her.
I have 2 I saved the lives of that I call my sons and one that I saved his life by picking up his mother the day before he was born and the vet had to do a c-section to save both of their lives, I call him my grandson.
I have some that well, yeah, we saved their lives and have given them a good home, but I didn't have quite the same impact, didn't pick them up out of the yard after being on their own for about 24 hrs at 4 weeks old, or having to bottle feed them from a week old.
So, my Scamp is my very favorite, then Taj and Oliver, my "sons" and then Solo, my grandson, Pong and Timus in third place.
We refer to the cats as "the opposite species."

Hi there Janette...I've never had children either. I've had cats since I was about five and a half years old and have always thought of my kitties as family members, and especially now that I live alone, my two current kitties are the only family I have now...and yes, my "children"
