Why is it that it's so hard to sell Avon products? Is it because we're going through a recession? Or is it the fact people find Avon too expensive? I Personally feel Avon is a convenience, because you don't need to wait in line to purchase your items. And it's great for last minute ideas and fund-raising projects . What do you think? Any pointers?

I don't really like Avon but i have friends who used to sell it. Guess it's pretty much opposite for some people-while you find it fast and convenient, somebody would better go to a store and browse all they want without feeling any pressure. Also, the distributors have to have good conversational-and sales-skills to convince people that this very product is the best for them. Avon is not expensive, and that's good. Maybe that's what makes folks suspicious

I don't like to be "pushy" when trying to talk to customers. I usually talk to them briefly and ofter my business card and tell them should they have any further questions, not to hesitate.
And I think people do think that Avon is too expensive, guess we'll have to assure them that it isn't.
I can try working on my conversational/sales skills a little more. There's always room for improvement. Thank you

LOL, No I wasn't offended. But I can relate to what you mean. People like to "force" people to buy. Which in the long run discourage them from buying.
You did in fact get me to think about my speaking/selling techniques and I know they can be worked on (I can be shy at times).

I sell Avon and I have really no problems selling it. From time to time I give my customers discounts if they are really good customers, and some people I know that can't afford certain stuff I slash the price a little. I might be loosing a little commission on my part, but it gains a customer. Like this week for example I gave one of my valuable customers thought one of the perfumes was too expensive (the perfume $30 and my price is $15)So I gave her $10 because she had a big order. So sometimes you have to negotiate with your customers, and keep on looking a new customers. I sell to family, friends, leave brochures every where you possibly can.

I can try the discount approach. How would you go about doing it [discount] when placing orders online?
I always leave brochures every where I go. And my boyfriend helps as well; since he's a Detailer, he goes to different stores and takes my books/business cards to drop off.
Thank you so much for your idea/help.

Online the discount part you can't use so much, but they can receive either a discount on shipping or $3.Good luck.

I rely on the catalogs my friend gives me for my Avon purchases. Avon does have great products and I use many of them consistently. Perhaps there are other people selling in the same area that you are. I would give incentives to people to get them to make a purchase. Perhaps a raffle where each time a customer makes a purchase you give away a bottle of Skin so Soft. Or put together a goodie basket with samples.

wow, that's a good idea. I like that, thank you.
I've given out magnets and I print labels for the catalogs, I used mention free gift w/purchase. And depending on what they order, I usually try to match it with something similar or something I really enjoy and would recommend.
But I like your idea better, thanks a million.

I think the product is good too. But the competition is too keen. There are too many options out there other than Avon. Don't you think so? Customers are confused which product suit them best, unless they had tried everything. Different product have different target group. Therefore, only certain group of people are the potential customers. For me, I really have problem in selling. Therefore, selling of any product is difficult for me LoL.

You are most welcome. I believe you are seller with conscience too! If I am selling, I will only sell and recommend products which I had used and and helped me. It's the same as for the internet earning program. I will only recommend my friend after I had earned the money. Because of this, I only have my downline after the withdrawal of my first payment.

You are right, competition is too keen.
As far as what products suits people, I try to recommend the products I used that has helped me. And I admit, sometimes they're store bought while others are from Avon. Like the bubble baths for instances, store bought, it makes me itchy, while Avon's Bubble Bath doesn't make me itch.
I'm not a "hard" seller, but I'm trying.
Thanks for your comment.

i've sold avon in the past and not made much money. but then again, my mom sells it and spends a lot of time with customers, delivering orders, placing orders, etx. and she is always number two in her district. she sell thousands of dollars worth each campaign. whY? because she knows alot of people and talks to everybody about avon. she knows alot of people and she tells people to tell there friend and tell their friends, etc. she gives them incentive by giving them ten percent off there order if they can get X amount of sales from others. she also leaves books at the chiropractors office anf offers ten percent off their order if they mention the doctors office, etc. she also does fundraisers at schools sometimes, etc. wears the products so if people compliment they can mention avon and leave them a brochure.

I wear a lot of Avon products, from their jewelry to their fragrances. I can finally say I've found my own scent that people say, "wow, you smell good, what are you wearing?"
I haven't tried the fund-raisers yet. And offering a discount, that's my next step.
Tell Mom I said Congrats on her success!
