I love swimming! I don't know if it's the cooling effect of the water, or the feeling of weightlessness or just the gentle exercise, but the truth is that I could stay in the water the whole day. I even forget about food when I'm in the water. My preference of course is salt water. It kind of lifts you off without any effort and you feel like you can even fall asleep while floating in there. Like water feels a bit slimy to me, I'm not really sure why but it just doesn't feel the same. And swimming pool water is so filled with chemicals that just the smell makes it a bit different. But, since I have no choice and I love swimming I'll take anything from ocean to lake to swimming pool hehehehe Do you like to swim? Is it relaxing or stressful to you ? WOuld you be able to stay in the water all day?

As I am not a good swimmer, I do not venture far into the sea. Soaking myself in the swimming pool is good enough for me. I enjoy being in the water and the longest I have stayed in the pool was few hours, just relaxing.

Well, as you say, even for a weaker swimmer it is possible to enjoy by staying in the low water. I think that a few hours is my average, and that is because people always call me and joke with me that I am growing gills and webbed feet LOL

hehehe I wish I had a swimming pool , not even mine, but at least close by. There is one but I still have to take a bus to get there and the travel time plus the time in the pool really cuts into the time I have to do other things. But if it was just there, I would go every day :):):)

It's great that you have that opportunity. Me, i would swim in a bath tub if it was big enough LOL but unfortunately that doesn't happen :)

Water is healing and relaxing. Sometimes if I'm desperate, the tub will help out. I don't like the ocean because it's too easy to drift away and I don't like the salt. It's been sometime since I swam in fresh water, and that would have been in the icy cold water of a former gravel pit. I like apartments that come with pools. I'll be there most everyday. I like to go out at night because noone is around and I can float while looking up at the stars. I don't think I can physically stay in the water all day, but I can spend an entire day dipping in and out of the forgiving coolness of an obliging body of water.

Of course a swimming pool will do, a lake, but for me nothing compares with the ocean, salt and all :) I guess a small part might have to do with what one is more used to but for me nothing beats swimming in the ocean :)

I agree with you most definatly! I personally have a pool and would probably prefer that to anything else. I do agree that salt water is nice .. But it seems like I always get it in my mouth some how which is quite annoying. I practically live on a fresh water lake but it can be pretty cold for the most part .. And Im pretty paranoid about being in the water (I think Im going to be eaten by a fish or something haha). :)

LOL I am more paranoid about the water in a lake. It's often muddy in the bottom and I don't know what's under all the mud. In the ocean it's sandy and often more clear so we can see:) As for water getting into my mouth I like salty so I guess it's fine LOL better than the chloryne. Actually they used to say that it was actually good - like gargling with salt water, or using saline nose drops. Don't know if it's true or not but I can tell you I never had sinus problems until I came here and when I go home to the beach they go away.

well I prefer lake water to swimming pools any day. swimming pools are stagnant and the chlorine that is often used to clean the water can irritate your eyes... whereas lake water flows so no problemo... unless someone is bathing upstream of course.

LOL I agree with you, but of course prefer ocean even more than lake. I don't like the muddy feeling on the bottom and really prefer to feel the sand in my feet. I remember saying this to one of my friends here and she said that not at all, it was sand and it felt like sand, but not to me LOL

i used to be in a swimming team but i never really enjoyed the competition i just love swimming, especially in the swimming pool cause it's not as bad when you swallow water, the thing i enjoyed the most is that you can scream, sing, laugh or even cry in teh water and no one will ever notice.

I was not keen on competition either, it's the overall relaxing effect that I like. I know that a lot of people are ok swallowing lake or swimming pool water than ocean, but I can tell you that it's way healthier than the fresh water, specially the chlorine in the swimming pools.

Swimming is one of the best-known ways to lose weight and keep it off. There are many benefits we receive from it. Having said that,I swim only when I need it.Because of an early incident when thru my own fault almost drowned,I would rarely go into the water UNLESS it was for training.I do have a few lifesaving and coaching credentials now and am fairly good in the water, but I would rather stay dry now(until needed).

Well, that is understandable. THe closest I was to drowning I was about 11 years old and both me and my cousin fell from the pier bikes and all. But it was almost low tide - which I don't know if it was better or worse LOL - so the water was going down.

Oh sweety, what a pity that they did that to you. SOmetimes the effects of a poor joke or silly action carry on trough our lives. In this case it deprived you from enjoying one of the most relaxing activities. Once we were checking out the highest diving board. We weren't exactly going to jump but wanted to see hoe it looked from there. But my cousin decided to push me and there I was falling - thankfully feet first - it scared me, but at the same time when I came up to the surface I understood that it was possible and from then on we were diving only from that one LOL But for a few seconds down there I almost panicked.

I love to swim, but have never swam in the ocean. It is very intimidating to me. I do not mind lakes, and I feel that you may be right, it may be "slimy" if the water level is low, but I think there may be something soothing to the skin in that "sliminess". After a while I do get cold in a lake, but it takes a long time. Then I like to get out, dry off, warm up, and get back in. Outdoor swimming pools do not smell nearly so thick with chemicals as indoor pools do, so I would choose outdoor over indoor in warm weather. In cold weather and indoor heated pool is the best. I love it. I do have to use a moisturizing soap though. And plenty of lotion. I do love to swim.

I can understand. WHen we are not used to it , the ocean can be a bit scary, special when the waves are high. I can see how that "sliminess" might be soothing to the skin, but I will choose the stinging salt water any day LOL I never had sinus problems while I lived by the ocean. Cuts and scraps used to sting a bit as I entered the water but always healed really fast. The salt in the skin acted a bit like one of those body scrubs that we buy - an expensive too - to make our skin look pretty, without the cost of course :) And if you ever swim in the ocean you will notice that you have to make no effort whatsoever to float. Water is denser so it keeps you afloat :) The waves... well... sometimes they're just tiny little things hehehehe In case of doubt , dive under :) Oh my , now I really miss the whole experience LOL

I was taught to swim when I was very little and absolutely love being in the water, even though these days when I go swimming the cry goes up "Thar she blows" - LOL The last time I went swimming was last year in Cornwall, when I was lucky enough to be able to go surfing as well.

I loved to swim when I was younger and I still love to swim today. I always can't wait till the warm weather gets here so I can start using the pool. I love to float and actually swim. I love to go under the water and zoom upwards and break through the water. I love the feel of the water against my skin. Swimming relaxes me a whole lot. I hate to get out of the water. My Mom and Dad when I was younger told me I should have been born a fish.

I enjoy swimming a lot. It is a great exercise. You can still feel the coolness of the water. Hey swimming in the sea is gret. When you go out to a beach, you relax in the ocean. In salt water, you will float while in fresh water; like a lake, pond, or river, you will not float. When you get out of the salt water, you will quickly shower to get all that salt off you. I agree that floating on salt water makes you possibly fall asleep. When I go to the ocean, I would be able to stay afloat all day.

I know... it's so easy to float in salt water. Plus there's a different feel to it. I also like to feel the waves. Sure some lakes do have waves but I like them a bit fuller like in the ocean. As for the salt, I even like to feel it dry in my skin. SOmetimes there are showers right on the beach to rinse if one wants, but waiting till getting back home is ok with me too :)

Yes, it's an incredible feeling. My parents loved to swim to and I have been swimming since 4 ot 5. My little cousins used to be in the water swimming even before they were 2. My aunt had those inflatable things that you put in your arms and they would swim by us in the shallower water.
