I just moved to my town, I went to this Church and we had Communion. Now all the churches that I have been to, I have never had communion at this time. Today is April 20th. I was confused, because anytime I have been to a Church Communion is the first Sunday of the Month. This Church does it every Sunday, out of 53 yrs, I have never known this to happen? Is that strange? Maybe it isn't but I never heard of it.
Ok, I just wanted to know your views about this. if you don't go to church, no since in asnwering this. Happy Sunday and have a Blessed week!

Now that is strange? Every three months, well I guess all churches do it differently, like another person said here. I was just curious, I have learned a lot in this discussion about Communion.

I grew up Catholic and they had communion every mass that was held (during the week, Saturday and Sunday). I never knew that it was done any other way.

Oh really? We used to have communion quite often at the church that I belong to. I'm not sure if they still do it as often or not though because I have not been to the church in years. We live several miles away from it now. I used to live it.

Funny, taking communion only once a month is strange to me. The churches I have been too have always done it every Sunday. Though I've never been 'allowed' to take communion because I've not been christened *grumble*
And as someone said above... Catholics have communion more often than some of us eat hot dinners... lol
Just as with so many other things in Christianity, this is just another thing that each sect, group and 'church' does differently.

Although I haven't attended for the past couple of years, my church also used to have communion once a month. I'm not positive, but I think it was the third Sunday of the month. I think each individual church has the choice of when to set their communion Sunday; I don't think it's a hard and fast rule which Sunday it is to be though. I do know of other protestant churches I've attended that do hold communion each and every Sunday. Maybe it more depends on the pastor and/or what the church elders have expressed the way they want it done in their church. It will be interesting to see other answers, maybe there's a better explanation there somewhere. My one cousin is an Episcopalian minister, I'll have to try and ask her about it just for curiosity's sake.

In the church I grew up in we had communion every 3 months. The church I go to now, don't have it that often, the last one we had was on Easter Sunday. Its usually maybe once every 6 mos. or something like that. I guess it just depends on what church you go to, they're all different.
