Has myLot helped you improve your typing speed?

Do you find that you can type faster since joining myLot? I have definately improved my typing speed and accuracy since joining myLot last year. All this posting is actually beneficial in many ways. Do you agree? :) When you type, do you try to use the accurate fingers as you are taught by the typing tutors? Have you ever used a typing tutor software? Do you think that if you post more on myLot it can help you to improve your accuracy or typing speed? What other benefits can you find? Do you think it can help people to learn English if it is not their natural language? I think these are all benefits to myLot apart from of course meeting new friends and discussing our interests. Have a great week everyone!

I did data entry for years before I retired. I used to type away and blast thru some of the chat rooms, they'd say - wow, you type fast! I don't believe that I'm typing faster than I did while I was still working, and I know I'm making more mistakes - but I don't see the info in front of me like I did when I was working.

Well, I wouldn't claim to be perfect, but I've got a fair speed on me.

Well I guess if you were already typing very fast because of the data entry job it is difficult to improve on perfection! :) Thanks for responding. Have a great day.

Yeah your right but not as good as looking for something to copy. It will really speed your typing skills and to the point that you don't have to look at the keyboard while typing. Here in mylot we can learn a lot and share our knowledge to everyone, hoping that we can also help emotionally for some peace of advice. We can also enhance our language skills even sometimes there is a wrong grammar. I myself if i don't know the word, i really look at online dictionary to find it and feed that new word.

That's a good tip! Thank you for your response. I am not sure why, but this discussion has been duplicated. I hope the myLot staff will be able to merge the discussions together. Have a great day and and even better week!

don't worry about that, admin may not monitor it all the time but they know who post first and do some action, some deleted the whole discussion. luck for others who did not monitor. Just keep on going this is really fun and hope we earn more.

I think mylot has helped because I noticed that I now incur lesser errors in my typing. I already type fast but my accuracy was lamentable. When mylot started, there was no auto word check that I got to have lots of errors. But now, I have noticed that my errors are getting lesser and lesser.

when i think about it,it probably has. i still get some bad typos once in awhile though, but that may be due to typing faster in and of itself. i have noticed i'm getting better at the multi-finger typing since being on here though.

I agree! Im not really sure about the accuracy though, but Im finding it that I have less and less typos. The accuracy I agree a hundred percent. Im not sure but how much though but I do like to think so. I know before I average at least 31 words per minute. Now, im not so sure. I also think taht saying you're own opiniions and typing tings that you just have to copy are two very different things because in typing your thoughts, it's unlimited. You can just go on and on and on in typing but when you have to type a script of texts or somthing it consumes more time. At least in my case because I never learned to jsut look at the screen and type away, I ahve to look at what im going to type and at the keyboard. I also have a different orientation because I first learned to type in a typewriter so I have to exert more to punch in the keys and there are levels with the letters whereas in a keyboard its all flat. Never have chagned the habit of typing with force and furiously so laptop keyboards dont do well for me. Thanks for the observation because I was thinking about it because of my typing all day here in mylot.^_^

It's a good point about typing thoughts being unlimited. I hadn't thought of it in that way but I think you are right about that. Thanks for responding. :)
