Does God change?

Big question here, and I am open to any response from anyone who has ever sat down and thought about the Bible, the things written in it, so on and so forth. I would say that God has changed the way in which he relates with people throughout history just as people have changed throughout history: their understandings, their languages, their thought-patterns, their self-knowledge. But GOD himself, no I do not think that GOD can change, just going by the definition of the nature of GOD. If he's perfect, why would he change? Anyway, please submit some thoughts here. And, not just Christian or Catholic thoughts. I'd love to hear from anyone from any religion.

God has not changed, it is the people's understanding of God that has changed. If you notice different religions have different ways of looking at God. Assuming there is just one God, how would that be, it is just the understanding.
Have you been in a classroom with a teacher, who lectures, one person says boy that teacher is boring, the next person says that teacher is so intelligent, the next one says that teacher can't teach, the next one says that teacher is teaching me so much, the next says that is the worst teacher I ever had, the next says that teacher is the best teacher I ever had.
the teacher is the same he is teaching his class through lecture, but the people come away with different impressions of what that teacher is all about.
To me it is the same with God.

Very good! We all have an idea of who God is and our own interpretation of Him. It's up to us to decide as we all have free choice.

Well, God has never changed; it's only our perception of Him has. As we behold Him, we're changed from glory to glory & we will grow from strength to strength. It's called maturity. Just like when we're young there are certain things we see differently as we grow old. Our understanding has been broaden as we are enlightened in different areas. Just a common everyday example: a young lad sees the motorbike as a means for transportation but also a way for showing off in front of peers, especially the gals. But for a man who has a family to feed - especially in our country, there's the bread man that goes on his bike around the neigbourhood & people will buy bread from him - it's called lifelihood. And as you observe, you noticed that both of them are actually the same guy. The guy that's selling bread has matured from the hot headed young lad into a wise father that has mouths to feed & a family to support

there are two possibility for that question. first, god is very kind. he will adjust to our capacity in the way he relates with us. even the form he uses to appear to us is similar with what we expect.
second, he's never changed. which is changing is our interpretation about him. the information that we get about his relation with human is not directly from him. it's written by different human.

Hebrews 13;8 let us know for sure that GOD does not change.HE has plan for everything taking place in the whole universe. It is because we failed and refused to understand HIS plans and to see HIS ways that is why it appears to us as though GOD changes. If we try bring ourselves down to cope up with GOD"S ways,we shall surely see it that GOD doesn"t change.THANKS.

If God doesn't change...and I know He doesn't, then I've a further question. God Himself told the Israelites during the time when they were sacrificing their children to the god Molech that He never even considered such a thing, that is, human sacrifice. If God never considered human sacrifice, then why did He change His mind?

Yeah God is perfect and he never changes, there r several verses in the Bible that relates that God never changes, hez just the same. And his judgements r still the same, all the ten commandments dis apply in moses times and they still apply to us. I mean he set the guidelines and we can follow. But that doesnt mean God is dominating, he gave us our own free will.

Yes, even i think god will never change, he love us and will forgive us if we are sorry and except that he is our saviour. if he changes then every thing will change and the rules will change. enjoy:)

In Micah (Old Testament) God states "I am God and I change not". That being said, God does not change. However, can we get God to change His mind? Abraham prayed over the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. He asked God would He still destroy the cities if there were 10 righteous people? There was a debate that went on between Abraham and God. The end result was there wasn't 10 righteous and the cities were destroyed. What has changed is man redefining the Bible.
