SLOW DOWN! Children And Pets At Play!

I live in an older neighborhood situated in between 2 groups of Little League baseball fields. During the season, there is constant traffic of people that don't live in my neighborhood. The speed limit is 25 mph, and NO ONE seems to care! On Friday, one of the parents of some kid that plays ball was flying up the road next to my home, probably doing about 55 mph. (Merely an estimation, but they were doing WAY over 25!) My dog likes to play with my neighbor's dog (and we're both okay with it) so he went visiting. On my dog's way back home, this parent ran over him... And kept on driving, never even slowing down. Thankfully, my dog made it with minor injuries, but my husband and I thought for a while that we were going to have to put him down (and do it ourselves because the vet was closed for the weekend). What if that had been a child? Would the driver have slowed down even then? So I'm posting this discussion, not for the responses I know I'll get, but as a warning and a plea: PLEASE SLOW DOWN IN RESIDENTIAL AREAS, ESPECIALLY IF YOU DON'T LIVE THERE!!! Those houses and cars next to your kid's T-Ball game are not just there for decoration. Families and pets actually live in them, whether you realize it or not. You wouldn't want me coming to your neighborhood and speeding and not watching out for your children and pets, so please do me and my neighbors the same courtesy, and WATCH OUT FOR OURS!!! My neighbors and I are sick of having our pets killed by cars, and our children narrowly missed. Kids don't realize how dangerous traffic is, but you, as a driver, do realize it. Your kid's ball game is not as important as a life, be it human or animal. And for those jerks out there that would have nerve enough to ask or comment negatively--YES, my dog has a collar AND visible tags, so there was no mistaking him for a stray. AND YES, we do our best to educate our children on the dangers of the road, but have you noticed lately that your kids don't always listen to you? Yeah, mine don't either. So please, please, people, SLOW THE HELL DOWN!!!
