There should be a section just for wild food... I wonder why there isn't any more interest in it? Anyway, I discovered that the lambsquarter is coming up already at the edge of my garden. The dandelions are ready to pick. I get purslane, wild amaranth and wild salsify from my backyard later in the season. Does anyone else pick wild food from their backyard? Or somewhere else?

There are now two sections: Wild food and gathering - for your delight. Yes, I have all kinds of wild food. Plantain, fiddle head ferns, blackberries, yellow dock, etc. I have started lots of topics on foraging. I took classes for three years. Take care

I've seen your topics and replied to many of them, thank you! :) I thought there would be a greater interest in them with so many people here now, but maybe the topics haven't been found yet.

Hi peavey. Unluckily not. I live in apartment and can have only flowerpots with my plants. But I love flowers and plants and my dream is to live in a house with a big garden. Well, maybe someday. Meantime you can go to "herbal medicines" interests here in mylot and talk about many herbs and plants like I'm already do. cheers

You can find wild food anywhere, it doesn't matter where you live. Last year, I saw purslane growing along the south side of the sidewalk by the post office. I wouldn't it it from there (it had been stepped on and heaven only knows what else was on it), but it shouldn't be that hard to find it in a more protected area. Herbs and herbal medicines are interesting, and I do use them, but they're not the same as wild foods at all.
