I do not think that pitbulls should be banned. I have owned a rescue pitbull. In Canada there are some provinces that have banned the breed. But what people do not realise is that although the breed was bred for fighting it does not mean that all of the dogs turn out that way it is all in the way you handle the breed.

I dont think they should be outlawed. I hate to see people put down pitbulls just because of their breed type. They are some of the most loyal and loving dogs around. Yes I have heard about them flipping out and doing some bad things but normally if you look deeper into the attack case, the whole reason they attacked someone is because they were mistreated or made to fight. Being a owner of a couple pitts I know that if you dont get them to respect you while they are pups they have that chance of going crazy. Wouldnt you go crazy to though if you didnt have a normal schedule or food or clean water or a house ...ect. People need to rethink who to blame because I honestly believe its not the dogs fault its the owner. I mean they are a big dogs and they need good owners to keep up with them because they are high maintenance type of pet.

in the UK, they are a banned breed. however I do not beleive they should be. it's always the owners treatment of the dogs that leads to agressiveness. rather than banning fighting breeds, or those breeds that are strong enough to do damage with a bite (rather than say, toy poodles or jack russels, which are snappy, but small) people should have to complete a course followed by an exam, and then have to hold a valid qualification in order to prevent ignorance in dog owners, and make it more of a personal commitment to raise them right.

I just think the poor pit bull has gotten a bad reputation. I have never had one, but I am sure that the way they are treated has a lot to do with the way that they behave. I have an Aussie that could be very mean, but she has learned to listen to me, and socialization is so important. If they can learn how to get along with humans and other dogs, maybe they can keep from being triggered. I really believe it is all how they are raised. I don't think they should be banned yet. Any dog can me mean.

I think pitbull fighting and animal fighting i gerneral should be banned, but no one breed should be banned just because of a stereotype. All dogs have different personalities, no matter what type they are.

No but I think the owners should get proper training before being allowed to purchase one and the training should then continue on with the animal too. Generally its not a bad dog but a bad owner some dont mean to they just dont know how best to control them. I do think though this should be with all animals so all dogs get the proper training to be well behaved and calm as possible
