How many friends do you have here on myLot?

And are you selective, or do you add anyone who asks to be your friend? I'm the first to admit it, I'm rather selective when it comes to picking friends here on myLot--I actually go in to see what types of posts they make and the responses they have. So far I've been pretty luck--no stalkers yet! So how about you--do you accept anyone's request to be your friend, or do you check them out first?

I currently have 1080 friends on mylot. When I first joined this site I was a lot more picky and even denied a few people that requested my friendship because I didn't know what it meant to have friends here on mylot. With having a ton of friends on here, it reminded me of myspace.com, which seemed rather pointless, at least to me anyway. So I stuck to a small group of people. But the more I learned about mylot, the more I accepted others that want to be my friend. So now I don't deny anyone that sends me a request.

Wow! Do you try to post responses to their discussions, or just find ones that intrigue you? I have a very small, select group of people on myspace; to me, that's just having a lot of acquaintances and SOOOOO high school (I'm well beyond that in my life!)

Yes, I do try to post responses to their discussions though usually to only the ones that intrigue me as I don't have the opportunity to reply to very many discussions on here per day. My myspace group of friends consists of only a dozen people. So you can see just how small it is in comparison to the group of friends I have on here.

I usually hover around 130 to 150, but I go through them and delete inactive friends or friends who just don't post any discussions that I would be interested in responding. Or, I delete friends who never respond to my discussions while I respond to theirs all the time. I figure that I can re-add them later on. When I am very active, I usually come across most other active members discussions anyway. I used to accept everyone, especially when I first joined the site. But, now, I've become more picky. I always check their profile and see what discussions they start and posts that they respond to. Also, I am hesitant to accept anyone who has a very low point score next to their name.

I also am hesitant to just randomly accept people, especially after I first joined and then got spammed by another member! Now I check them out more thoroughly, though I do need to go through my friends and see who is inactive. I don't worry too much about low point scores (are you referring to the star rating, or the number of posts?) as much now; I'm looking for content at this point. Thanks for responding!

I actually mean the number of posts next to their name. I like someone to have a history that I can look at before I add them. One time, I got a request from someone and when I looked at his profile, all I could see were posts and discussions talking about how much he hates America. So, I didn't add them. The star rating is basically meaningless.

I'm alot more weary than I used to be. I still add friends, but I do look at their profiles first. Right now I have a 16 year old looking to be added as my friend and I am not real enthusiastic about adding he/she because I'm not sure of the maturity of their discussions. I do feel like someone is out to ruin my star rating so I think I need to be a little more discerning in who I add.

I've been a bit more fortunate--my star hasn't suffered in over a year; but I am extremely careful now who to add. I have 5 people waiting to be added, and of them, I'm concerned that they're out to just add friends, and not looking for someone to contribute to their discussions. I'll probably just let them sit in my Pending Friends area til they disappear. Good luck in finding quality contributors!

Why do you accept anyone? Have you found anyone difficult among those friends that you have accepted? Good luck with myLot!

I'm new on mylot, so only one right now. As far as I want to make new friends and involve in interesting discussions, I tend to be selective when it comes to picking myLot friends. It's mainly depends on what types of post they make and whether or not we have similar interests in common.

It seems that you have a wide variety of interests, but currently only one friend. It also seems as if you're just responding to other discussions, instead of creating some. Good luck though on your journey with myLot!

I'll say you're new--according to your profile, you just joined 6 hours ago! What types of people are you hoping to meet? And welcome to myLot!

You're definitely a newbie! I think it helps to find quality friends; I tried to get referrals, but my friends (real life ones) tend to have other, better things to do than 'sit on the computer and type responses to stupid comments' (their words, not mine). Good luck and welcome!

I used to be that way, but I eliminated spammers; now I just need to go through my friends and see who hasn't been active in the last six months or so. A lot of my early friends seem to have given up on myLot; it's not as easy to earn as before. I now look for someone who will actually contribute to discussions, as well as post interesting responses. Thanks and welcome to myLot!
