I never imagined I would be writing about this here in myLot or even doing this in real life but here it goes.
During the weekends, my husband and I talked about our daughter's future and we have decided that one of us is going to work abroad. Personally, I wouldn't think of doing it because I do have a stable job here in the Philippines and I've been working for more than ten years now. However, this move is called for particularly now that every commodity has soared prices including our staple food which is rice. Aside from this, the company I'm working with is currently in a financial crisis. I could apply for a job in other offices but the pay I will be getting would be just as much as I'm being paid here. Compared to working abroad, I will be receiving five to eight times more my salary now.
And why I chose Singapore? Well for one, it's also part of Asia and so near our country. And ideally, I won't be gone for long. If they would permit me, I'd like to work there for just a year.
So now, I have to process my papers. But I'd like to know what is in store for me there. I'm a financial analyst or an accountant here in our country with as I've said, ten years of experience. Would it be possible that the accounting work I'm doing here is mostly or mainly the same as the work in Singapore? Do I have to learn a specific language for me to speak there? Mandarin?
Kindly help me. My heart breaks to think that I'll be leaving my two year old daughter here in our country with her father, but it hurts me more to know that I did nothing to feed and send our daughter to school (which is about two years from now.) Thanks in advance for all the help you could give me. This also goes to all Singaporeans out there who could extend me some help in here.

hi.
just want to know whether you have already come to singapore?
Singapore is a pleasant country generally but it's highly competitive in some sense.
Given the financial crisis so far, there are a series of headcount freezes in the banks and financial institutions here. if you are keen to work here, do apply and secure a job before coming over i guess.
not too sure how to help but only to answer what i can.
